Drew was committed to Oregon and thought he was too good so he went pro. Now he is losing to Oregon athletes. LMAO.
I honestly can't blame him because the money was very tempting, but he's gotta be kicking himself a bit.
Why? I mean, he got $1,000,000 over many years + a CU education paid for, no? Or am I wrong about that? He has a social media presence and is probably getting endorsements too. He just ran 13:17, and, while I’m sure he wanted the standard, this is not the time to be in peak shape, so I’m sure there will be other opportunities.
I get that, in theory, he shouldn’t be losing to college athletes when he has a 3:57 mile PR from high school, but, I know he has had some foot problems? Maybe many are right that it’s time to graduate from Tinman, especially for a kick finish kind of race, but Drew is still plenty young. He has time to improve. The other thing to consider is that it’s much harder to get in fast, quality sessions at high altitude to prep for a race like this, so, advantage Oregon.
