Evidence of black oppression? Just read before you react please

I’m not saying it’s impossible for a minority to get out of the situation they’re born into. Ignore race for a moment....who has better opportunities as a child/young adult: (which leads to more opportunities as adults) a kid who is living day to day/week to week, goes to an underfunded school with underpaid teachers, doesn’t have access to quality public libraries, doesn’t have consistent access to internet, doesn’t have consistent fatherly or motherly presence in the home, whose community often has examples whether that be brothers, friends, or others who have resorted to gang association and drug use, doesn’t have quality medical care......or the kid who has two loving parents, goes to a well funded school with teachers who have enough resources for all students, have parents who can afford to pay for not only basic internet access, but video games and leisure activities for the kids such as recreational sports, lives on a street with very little to no crime, always has food on the table and always goes to the doctor and dentist for their twice a year checkup. Now you need to realize that that overwhelming majority of people I first described are black, and the second white. The majority of black people are simply put in so much worse situations than whites from birth and spend their lives working hard to try to reach a higher rung and provide more opportunities for their kids. I encourage you to look into your cities/towns zoning maps, especially if you live in the suburbs. In most cities where there’s a majority white population, you will find a section of the city that has much smaller houses, much worse public utilities, less parks/sports fields, and a lack of grocery stores to say the least. I can almost guarantee that section of town is referred to as “ghetto” or “hood”. Not coincidentally, I can also almost guarantee you that if you go to that area of town, the majority of people living there will be black.

The people who have been able to get out of these situations have a combination of hard work, talent, and luck. Let me ask you this:Why do you think so many young African American kids see sports as a way to get into college? Here’s another one: Are black people more likely to be arrested, less likely to go to college, and more likely to work lower paying jobs because they’re stupid, lazy, and uncivil and in other ways less than other races? OR is it because they’re consistently more likely to be put in worse living situations than whites for example (the answers should be obvious).

So your point is that poverty is the causative factor not race for not getting head?

There are more poor whites in the US than poor blacks. Yet the poor blacks commit crimes at a much higher rate than poor whites. If we could fix that, most problems would be solved.

Yes, people act more like others in their income bracket then in their race. Poor people act similar regardless of what race they are. And until we as society put this on them and not make excuses like racism, or oppression or whatever liberal movement we want to mention, then there will be no change. In America everyone is given a free education no matter how smart or poor you are. In fact poor people have it easier, the poorer schools get more money (title 1) and thus get better teachers and more programs. And then go to college they have grants and scholarships, especially if you’re a minority. There is no middle class white only scholarships. But poor people don’t want to work hard and get an education, it’s easier to not do anything. It’s easier to get government handouts. They also grow up in single parent homes as mentioned in other posts. It’s much easier to sleep around then be in a committed relationship. That’s the thing that irritates me about this so unfair to blacks movement. It would be easier to not work hard and live on government assistance, but I choose to put in the effort to be the best employee. It would be easier to buy the latest and greatest phones, cars, clothes and have bad credit, i choose to sacrifice and be financially responsible. It would be easier to trade my wife in for a newer model, but I choose to put the work in the relationship so I don’t have children that grow up in single parent homes. When in my life someone has got a promotion or benefit because of who they are or being a certain race, I haven’t cried about it, I’ve worked harder. To make an excuse like it’s not someone’s fault is belittling the work that plenty of others just like me are doing. And I’m not special or have anything anyone else couldn’t, I just have made the choice.

Neither are a 'race'.

The laws you describe appear to be laws descriminating against nationality. Such laws are common and are not racist. i am not commenting on whether this law is good, bad, or fair, but;

You say you chose all of those things, but the things that led you to make those decisions were the people you grew up around and the people who raised you. Someone who grows up in a poor neighborhood may not know how to get scholarships, or that they are available, or that college is so monetarily advantageous, or they may find all of this out their last year of high school after getting a 1.8 gpa the past 3 years, so even though they may want to go to college once they're a senior, no college will accept them because they don't have grades good enough.

When no one in your life knows what a Roth IRA is, and there is nobody to tell you it exists, you may never start putting your savings into one. If everyone in your life, your friends, your parent(s), everyone who influences you, if they all are buying the newest phones and clothes and rack up credit card debt, and tease you for not doing the same, you are probably going to feel pressured to do the same, especially because no one has told you the effects it will have on you later on.

You say you chose to do all of those things, but so many people in low income areas have no idea how to make good financial decisions, and they are in low income areas because not even 60 years ago banks could legally not give them loans because of their race, or they wouldn't be allowed in good schools because of their race, or even use the same bathrooms because of their race. They effectively don't have a choice to make the same decisions you did because the people who raised them and shaped them into the person they are never taught them the skills you seem to have.

making equal opportunities for African Americans would be a HUGE step forward in our society, but racism and white privilege exist in higher income communities as well as poor communities.

Voter supression is alive and well.

I wish there woukd be equal opportunity for African Americans instead of having so many preference programs and advantages. Do you really think they are advocating for equal opportunity? I doubt the protesters want to do away with all of the advantages.
