Boo was probably contacted, but isn't going to take a job away from Louisiana at this time.

No way Roveleto is going to take an assistant job. He's paid handsomely at K-State and is doing an amazing job there.

The others are possibilities.

First 2 listed: would be great

Does anyone know what Matthew Barreau at CNU is being accused of? When you read their petition it says he is being falsely accused... but that is rarely the case. Athletes often don't know the real reason and the coach can't ever say. So, I am wondering what he did.

Going to be an interesting position for someone to dive into! Plus they are hosting the NCAA Regionals for the South/Southeast this year. Better get a coach who can handle all of that!

Sevin is more of a throws guy, but why would Bartolina be a disaster? His jumpers pretty much dominated the Southland when he coached there.

Why wonder? What's the point of potentially kicking someone in our profession when they're down? He, obviously, did something that his superior(s) and HR felt necessary to go in separate directions.

Encouraging a petition (if he did) might be the questioned move vs. the mistake(s) he made while on the job. It's an easy climate to get fired in now-a-days. One day everything is fine. The next day you walk in and you get your pink slip. Or problems build up over time and enough is enough.

Either way, my personal stance as a college coach is always to TRY not to wonder or think less of a person for getting fired/having resigned. And I've never even met Matt, but starting rumors or gossiping or saying mean things about other coaches on a message board only degrades our profession.

Definitely not trying to kick him while he is down. Just wondering if it's a bad situation there or if it was something he stepped out of line and did. A lot of colleges let the person save face and resign "to pursue other avenues," so when that doesn't happen you just wonder what's up. And if he did something wrong, sweeping it under the carpet is wrong and potentially opens up a can of worms for a future employer.

The pretty much official word out now is despite the success he brought the program the head coach didn't like him around and told the AD and the AD without asking any questions sent him packing. Not the first talented successful coach the head coach has sent packing. Multiple assistant coaches that were former olympians helping the sprints etc. have been sent packing cause the head coach wants full power and credit for every little thing.

Sounds like a toxic person to work for and the new xc head coach will have a talented, but definitely pissed off team to coach next year. Gonna be a hard situation.

I thought Sevin also worked with vaulters. Is that not a jumping event? Is this not true? Google search shows that he has had some experience in that area and it is one of A&M's current focus events.

MIT has an Associate Head Coach position open.

Where did the FSU jumps coach go? A&M?

Sevin also coached the long and triple when he was the head coach at McNeese - he would be an excellent jumps coach.

It's about f***ing time! By dumping his bloated salary (one of the highest in the UMass system) it seems like the university will now be able to hire an actual staff.

it's too late. UMASS LOWELL is the new best team in MA. Lowell will be destroying them for decades. Look for Lowell to get most of the good recruits from the northeast.
