We are in deep trouble. We have one political party that has turned totally fascist. There is not a single GOP lawmaker willing to push back in the slightest when Trump sends Rubio to Canada with a message that they need to be annexed by the US. Nor military plans for taking Panama. We have another party that is feckless and thinks they can do nothing until the next elections because the institutions and norms will hold just fine and we will have normal elections like always.
We have Trump supporters that will agree with Trump no matter what. Even if it contradicts what he said yesterday. The slow walk into fascism is now an aerobic threshold run.
We're in deep trouble? Then move sir, just move. It's clearly better somewhere else, right?
The USA is becoming a better place, accept it or move. We don't need you here.
Mic drop!
Post alledges fascism. Response post defends by invoking fascist ideology of suppressing dissent.
This is why the democrats political strategy of sounding the alarm on losing our democracy was a loser. An incalculable but significant portion of the country has no use for democracy.
We see it daily in the defense of everything Trump is doing.

Trump is doing better than we could have asked for. On fire. Hitting on all cylinders. Still early. Hard to believe he’s 80
When President Trump lost in 2020, did you "get over it or move"? Or did you spend four years pissing and moaning about the situation?
. . . Which would have been okay! Because, see, in the United States we have that First Amendment thingy that essentially says people can piss and moan all they want.
Of course, if it really bothers you that in the United States people can have and express opinions that you don't like . . .
they forget that four years ago the Dems were the ones with the WH, Senate and House.
Amazingly, Biden did not fire all attorneys general, fire all non loyalists in government, and start filing bs legal charges against all perceived republicans, including conservative lawfirms. When republicans got control of congress, they could not find a legal justification for impeachment of Biden. Nor could they legally attack corporations for being liberal. Because they were held to the law.
Now, we have a president unconstrained by the law or any hint of morals. Republican congress has willingly bowed down in fealty, given away their power of the purse and ability to end national emergencies, and ignored obvious law breaking and massive conflicts of interest. They voted away their own power and relevance to give it to Trump.

We have been watching Trumps legal cases to see if the third branch of government will hold. The judicial branch. To see if Trump blows off the courts.
I don’t think anyone foresaw that Trump would just pass executive orders to make sure the law firms can’t do their job. And no cases can even reach a judge to win. All of these attacks on law firms have no merit and will be overturned as blatantly unconstitutionally.
But the effect is that law firms will be hesitant to challenge the Trump admin.
The sad irony is that Trump has used his constitutional right for legal representation his whole life for himself. Probably thousands of times. Yet he denies for others what he has used and abused.
MAGA: We want cheaper food! Trump: No, you want Greenland. MAGA: We want Greenland! Trump: And other bull Sh!t I invent. MAGA: And other sh!t you invent! Trump: You must suffer to be great. MAGA: We're ready! Trump: That's not what I said it. MAGA: That's not what you said!
Not very smart. Alabama in the gutter for a reason. Meanwhile, MAGA is getting the last hostages back from Hamas, yet another incredible moment while the libs stomp their feet.

When Shakespeare had a character say ‘first we kill all the lawyers’ he meant that without lawyers the nobility could do whatever they wanted. trump is doing just that. Eliminating yet another check on his power.

Biden was the MAGA who negotiated the deal between Hamas and Israel.
You can give Trump credit for not messing it up, I suppose.
Raise your hand if you thought this made sense to you during the 2024 Presidential campaign.
COLLINS: But the question here is, would you give Ukraine weapons and funding if you are re- elected? TRUMP: I would sit down – let – let me just put it - - a nicer way. If I'm president, I will have that war settled in one day, 24 hours. COLLINS: How would you settle that war in one day? TRUMP: First, I'll meet with Putin, I'll meet with Zelenskyy. They both have weaknesses and they both have strengths. And within 24 hours that war will be settled. It will be over. It will be absolutely over.

Trump hasn't started the clock yet.
He has a habit of modifying what he means. When he said, "I'll be a dictator for one day," he meant, "I'll be a dictator from day one." All you have to do is add an "m" and flip two words. This is how Trumpspeak works to justify to himself that he sort of didn't lie.

I think it’s a little different than this. Worse, perhaps. Of course, all Trumpers don’t care about democracy. January 6th proved that beyond all doubt. They will agree with whatever Trump says or does.
It’s the non-Trumper Trump voters who we might wonder about WRT democracy. My guess is that a lot of them wouldn’t even know what you’re talking about if you mentioned a concern about democracy. They don’t consume much news, and they think about the nation even less. Nearly completely consumed by their own lives.
It was true in November, and it will be true for the rest of our lives.

Jack Smith's sham classified documents case? Fat Alvin's 34 sham felonies against Trump?

A sadly funny thing, perhaps:
Americans: We’re a great democracy!
American Pundits: Democrats were stupid in ‘24 for thinking that they could convince +\- 1% of American voters that democracy was important enough to vote for.
