As far as the 2:50, I was just going with his half split of 1:22 and adding 5-6 minutes. Regardless, he wasn't going to go 2:41.

One of the defining factors of every cheating thread on this site is the people who attack those asking legitimate questions.

If you are wrongly accused of anything, stick to the facts that rebut the accusations and frankly admit when you cannot, don't avoid questions or give half-baked excuses or non-answers.

Just an opinion, but from what has actually been documented, I think he maybe could run 2:41. I don't think he has, but I think he maybe could.

I don't think he could or did run a 30:47 10k. And I'm not sure that the editing of his Wiki page to change that to a 7k was done by him. Someone on this board discovered a triathlon split of 30:47 for 7k, but don't know that it was ever confirmed that the 7k was the source of the 10k PR.

It was me who spotted the co-incidental 30:47 split. I was looking because Kev said his 10k PB was set in his triathlon days. I have asked several times on his FB page and in message for the year and location of this 30:47. Despite being very active he has still not provided this simple information. Kevs biggest sin is not pressing him for it. I have also asked for team and year for his pro cycling as Milram in the 2007 tour is clearly not true.

This is just Rob's way to make a living.

He was doing the same thing back in 2004.

I can guarantee that Robert Young and company are liars about him being a pro cyclist for the Milram team a decade back when that team actually existed. I follow professional cycling extremely closely and have never even heard of a Robert Young.

Searching Procyclingstats shows that there has never been any record of a Robert Young existing as a pro cyclist on Milram:

I think it was mentioned that it was the Cambridge Duathlon, which if true, then the split was probably 7.5K, not 7K... not that either are any where close to 10K that he claims on his website (red down arrow at top).

And technically, we don't know for sure that's where the dubious "30:47" came from. But it appeared to be an intriguing coincidence of identical times that seemed to explain the claim.

Someone want to pick me up in the RV at 54 and give me a lift to 65/66 and give me the cliff notes version of what has transpired with ol' Robbie?

Also, Yesterday am he was just east of Jefferson City, MO and I figured by now he would have made it well into Illinois by now but it appears he has not crossed the MO - IL border yet. So, is he actually running now and this is his real pace? Did the RV break down and he can't sleep-run-drive? IS HE INJURED and pulling out?

Please help catch me up......PLEASE

I live too far away in South FL, if Rob made a detour to Ft Laud then I'd hop into my car or bike and follow him.

Eneko Llanos of Spain was the world long course tri champ in 2003. Young does not appear in the elite results.

Thank you CoachKev. I don't have the depth of your experience with Rob. I happened to meet him earlier this year after listening to a presentation and then had the chance of spending a couple hours with him in a social environment.

I found him to be genuinely passionate about his causes and walked away feeling that I had just met a special individual who is wired a bit differently than myself but in such a way that makes his world and abilities plausible.

As for the van team - they are not a professional support team. It's a couple of guys ( I personally know one of them - Michael ) that are learning on the job. Managing their own fatigue, Rob and trying to manage the data/updates can't be easy - especially a month into this attempt.

I can't speak to whether he has legitimately completed the attempt to this point. I wasn't there. I also wasn't there when the original poster in this forum showed up. Is his story fabricated to bring doubt to Rob's attempt? For someone outside of the Ultra "Let's Run" community that's just as plausible. His actions seem like he was out to "catch him" not doing what he said he was doing.

I do find it interesting that most of the doubters here seem to be concerned of his ability due to his pedigree. The "He's not one of us" attitude. He isn't. He doesn't have the traditional ultra runners resume. From my brief experience with him my guess is that he doesn't care. Had he competed in the Westcoast alongside some of you would you be giving him more slack and waiting until he finished?

I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. If he finishes this attempt, the data will be presented and there will be plenty of time to scrutinize it.

I hope others concerned with the legitimacy of his attempt will give him the benefit of the doubt too until all the evidence is presented.

Now there are things that haven't been cleared up yet; 15:56 5k, the full data set. But if Rob submits the evidence post run to the relevant body and they approve it you'll have an issue where several posters have written slanderous comments all over the board and I fully expect the likes of Lucozade a $1.3bn company to take legal action should posters be deemed to be doing their brands damage. Equally Rob will be under contract. I expect should he not meet contractual demands equal recompense be taken by his sponsors.

In the UK there has never been any hint of financial misappropriation of funds or cheating before in any of his runs as far as I can tell. I neither claim he is clean or dirty, but having watched this thread from the start ask legitimate questions it has dissolved into creepy, stalkerish rumourmongering, witch-hunts and fantasy crossing into slander. You would think bro'jo's would be sensible enough to not encourage such action in a case where, because of the nature of ultra running definitive proof is always tough (unlike say, chip timed marathons).
