So the question at ASU is what is role of Milton Mallard who was just hired a week ago also at ASU? 2 800 and up coaches seems odd in Tempe.
Milton will be the 800/400 coach. Meyer will be the babysitter for the fall and the scrubs on the team that run 1500 and up.
Someone seems a bit salty that Meyer is seeing success at age 25 (?) lol. What are the odds this keyboard warrior could even make the ASU distance squad of "scrubs"? Let's drop the tough guy act and link the TFRRS.

Oh not salty at all Mrs. Meyer. It was very well known what Dion was looking for in a distance cosch and it was proven. ASU will never be good in xc. You're right, I wouldn't make the distance team there since I'm past my running days, but my HS team in CA would wipe the floor with them. It's bad enough that ASU cannot even beat Grand Canyon, they're even worse than some of their local Juco teams.

No, this thread is where high school coaches go to complain about people who get hired for their dream job of coaching in the NCAA. A lot of them never took the chance when they were younger and are super bitter and jealous now. Nobody cares how good your high school cross country team is because coaching in high school is an easy, 20 hour per week babysitting job pretending to be full time.

Being called Mrs. Meyers is be the biggest compliment I've gotten in a while so I'll take it. Also don't want to further take away from the designed purpose of this thread so I'll leave it at this- I can't imagine a teacher with a dream job in both teaching and coaching is coming onto letsrun threads and spewing unnecessary vitriol ragging on a young kid and his program that he's trying to improve. If that's living the dream, I don't want it. And if you are living your dream and finding time to do this, maybe rearrange your priorities. Probably would have hated to be "coached" by you. Best of luck this next season, hopefully you have more patience and foresight with your own runners than a program you seem to have no affinity for yet can't keep them out of your mouth.

Iowa State hired 2024 Michigan State grad Katie Osika for their women’s distance assistant job. Very good miler/cross country runner combo who was a 15:39 5k runner by the time she was done.
She is being hired primarily as a recruiter and is obviously a novice as far as that goes so we shall see. As the post two above this reflects, she is not coming into a great situation so she’ll have to sell a vision of something better ahead

This is exactly what I expected them to do. More experienced coaches got passed on this role from what I heard. This is why I said before you go after jobs that fit your experience it is what it is
