PROVO, Utah — BYU track and field legend Tiffany Hogan will return to the program as an assistant coach overseeing multi events and jumps, BYU director of track and field Ed Eyestone announced on Monday. “I am excited to come...
University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois needs a new head track coach (sprint/jump coach), new assistant sprint/jumps, and a new throws coach.
St. Francis is an NAIA school that regularly has many many athletes compete at the national meet, has had multiple track and field individual national champions, and has won two cross country team national champions in the last 10 years.
The sprints squad is relatively small currently, but the women’s 4x100m placed 16th at nationals this year and they had a 13th place finisher in the 400m, as well as a few distance runners earning All-American honors.
This is the athletic director’s (Dave Laketa) contact information.
Did the entire staff leave? This school is a hard sell, especially with the short season due to weather.
My understanding is that the former coach was head of both cross country and track but was a distance/cross focused coach. So there wasn’t a lot of resources put into track/field events. Probably more to do with the fact that they don’t have their own track and have to rent a local one. Maybe be a rebrand or they’re just looking to split up responsibilities and pay less. Would be a hard sell recruiting wise with all the schools in Chicago and the religious rules.

A lot of issues with these schools, even if they have had some success is:
1) They are insanely expensive/overpriced. If you have to offer an athlete $10k in athletic money just to make it somewhat affordable for them to come to college - what's stopping them from taking a much smaller $3-5k scholarship at a bigger school with better name recognition that is 1/4 the cost?
2) They are private/religious institutions. Most kids, even conservative ones, want an actual college experience. Completely dry campuses, curfew or visiting hours in dorms, no greek life, etc. is going to make you feel like you never left mom and dad's or even more strict than at home.
Was he a volunteer at the other 5 schools before that?
He’d have been an ambition-less idiot to spend more than 2-3 years at his previous schools. Sounds like a savvy professional with ambition to me. As long as he doesn’t spend more than a few at Houston.

I saw Gibson and assumed it was the guy at southern mississippi moving up since they won conference in the fall. The HC there seems to pump out good assistants that move on to better schools every few years
