The US proposal does have a leg in it in that it calls for the release of children who were transferred to Russia from Ukrainian territory. Russia would never agree to that as many of those children have been adopted into Russian families. So, that could be dropped and exchanged for something like Ukraine agreeing to pull out of Kursk, which is already underway. But I doubt that Russia will go for it.
