After all that, Trump's 30 day cease fire is DOA with Russia (surprise, surprise). All the grown ups who have dealt with Russia know that the Russians do not do piecemeal negotiations. You reach an agreement on everything or you have no agreement at all when negotiating with the Russians. That is always how the do things. So, Trump's big flex on Zelensky has turned into Putin's big flex on Trump. So much winning.
Putin's position on negotiations is basically that Ukraine has to agree to everything Putin wants before Russia will negotiate. No NATO membership. No foreign peace keepers. Ukraine gives up Donbass and Crimea and the international community and Ukraine recognize these territories as belonging to Russia now and forever. And BS about respecting Russians living in Ukraine that would just be a pretext for a new invasion when someone tries to speak Russian at a coffee shop and the barista answers them in Ukrainian.
There is still a small chance Russia will do a 30 day ceasefire deal. The US proposal does have a leg in it in that it calls for the release of children who were transferred to Russia from Ukrainian territory. Russia would never agree to that as many of those children have been adopted into Russian families. So, that could be dropped and exchanged for something like Ukraine agreeing to pull out of Kursk, which is already underway. But I doubt that Russia will go for it.
