Correct. IF you have 10 Elite Africans in a race and 8 drop out, the fact 8 of the top 10 finishers are American doesn't mean that much when there are 10,000 Americans in the race. Even if the rate of attrition is exactly the same in the sub-elite, wave 1 fields there will always be runners to run though the field and fill in the places.
In addition to Chichester in 5th, women from the mass start also finished in 13th and 14th--both in theory in the prize money, if they are eligible for it.

I’ve seen high school and college meets run in snowstorms where the runners performed better than the elites did today. You would think a professional runner could handle a variety of road, weather, race conditions.

I have been taking note of her progress from seeing her name come up over the years since I was in a race with her in my first marathon back in the early 2000s in which I ended up running side by side with her for the final kilometres while she was having an apparent asthma attack. The lead guy on the bicycle was calling out to spectators asking if anyone had an inhaler.
She was the lead female and we crossed the line at the same time, but that wouldn't happen now. She's much, much faster, now. And I'm not.
Does anyone know anything about these other American top finishers? Can we get some previous colleges, or time or accolades???

That is by far the cheapest thing i've heard. I understand their reasoning (to prevent people from cheating) but it's 2018, have they not been able to figure out a foolproof way to prevent cheaters? What a load of commie crap.
