Everyone says in the contemporaneous accounts of the day that it was hot. 22 degrees start line temp is factually recorded, so no arguments about that. But the reports on the day talked about hot conditions, Paula in her post race interviews talks about it being hot etc etc. I don't think there's any doubt that it was hot (or else everyone else would have been saying on the day 'nah, it was prefect weather for running in'). How hot doesn't really matter does it? It certainly looks like all the athletes were finding conditions less than ideal.

Not defending her because I believe she was blood manipulating of some sort but, in the direct sunlight it could have been around 29 because:

It is also factually recorded that it was 23 - 24 degrees (with scattered clouds) at the end of Paula's race - there should be no arguments about that either, regardless of how hot it felt.
Nobody enjoys racing a half marathon in those conditions. It is normal that runners and reporters overstate the conditions of a race (see for example Beijing's 10,000 m), but facts are facts, measurements are measurements, and the IAAF really should not have lied for Paula. It is one thing to say "wow, that was hot", but quite another thing to write "29 C" in an official document in an attempt to justify why Paula wasn't banned.
Well, not quite everyone. The announcer referred to it as "warm" and "quite warm". I never heard the word "hot" come from his mouth.

Very well done Lying liars. We went through the IAAF whitewash report many months ago, so I have forgotten some of the other false statements and omissions. You have found another obvious false statement by the report.
There seem to be a lot of false statements and omissions in the report... that all are go in favor of Paula Radcliffe's "plausible" explanations that the IAAF run by Lamine Diack accepted as obviously "plausible" explanations for Paula's "suspicious" blood test results.
This pattern reminds me of the UCI run by H. V. and Pat McQuaid accepting lots and lots of "plausible" explanations.
Here is a question I have. Is there any evidence or proof that Dr. Saugy was involved in writing the IAAF report?
And here is another way of looking at Paula's results in 2003:
Although they are not the same measurement, there is a relationship between hemoglobin levels and hematocrit (a measure of RBC% of total blood volume), since hemoglobin is the oxygen binding protein located within the RBC.
A rough way to estimate hematocrit levels (used in a lot of the cycling history stories and more familiar for many readers) is to simply multiply hemoglobin levels X 3, so that would mean that:
Paula's hematocrit went from either 36% or 38.4% prerace to 46.8% postrace just 2 days later.
As you can see, there is nothing about Paula's blood test results that seem "suspicious" at all. Right?

It would have been 30ish on the road which to is hot in anyones language.
When I lived in Madrid, we used to regularly play basketball for a couple of hours or so in the sun when the temperature was 35-40 degrees+ in the shade.
24 degrees isn't that hot, I'm sorry.
Paula may look wobbly just after the race, but she looks in fine fettle sprinting for the line, having utterly annihilated the opposition.
If you are severely dehydrated then I think it would be more likely that you would show signs of cramp rather than give a darn fine impression of Usain Bolt. She looks utterly imperious on that run-in to the line.

You're right, but in the shade where the temp is taken. Ran at 6.30am today in Brisbane, Australia approx 23°C in the shade, beautiful, but a lot friggin hotter out in the direct sun.

Hello Fred!...I could tell from your links on PGC1alpha and AMPK that you must read a lot.
In the Kenyan ABP thread where Renato Canova has actually stated that he thinks Wang Junxia was probably clean and just a great natural talent (even though he did state that the other Chinese women may have taken EPO) back in 1993, when she ran the 29:31.78 10k WR with the last 5k in 14:26 and the last 3k in 8:17, then a 3:51.92 1500m, then an 8:12.19 3k WR in the heats, and finally an 8:06.11 3k WR in the final, which still stands to this day....all in 1 week!
According to my Purdy tables, Wang Junxia's best race was the 3k, which is equivalent to a 5k in 14:03 and a marathon in 2:17:12.
Paula's 2:15 marathon is the equivalent of an 8:00 3k, 13:53 5k, and 29:05 10k, which is even better than Wang Junxia from China in 1993.
So this would mean that if both Paula and Wang Junxia are both clean, naturally talented runners... that their equivalent performances on the Purdy tables are better than ALL Kenyan and ALL Ethiopian female runner performances in the last 23 years.
It would also mean that both Paula Radcliffe and Wang Junxia had better equivalent performances than ALL EPO doping runners in the last 23 years as well.
It would also mean that Renato Canova's theory that the Kenyan and Ethiopian runners born at altitude, living at altitude, and performing high level-elite-training at altitude are very "special"... and the greatest natural running talents in the world......would also not be correct.
The greatest clean, naturally talented women in female distance running for 3k, 5k, 10k, and marathon for the last 23 years would be the British female runner Paula Radcliffe and the Chinese female runner Wang Junxia....not ANY Kenyan or Ethiopian female runners training at altitude and not ANY runners that were doping with EPO or any other drugs.
