Why did US reduce the Department of Education? Most Americans got way to little education. Plumbers and janitors should hold bachelor degrees as well as everyone else. It helps people to think critically. Look at the cops as an example. In Norway every cop holds a bachelor degree. We never have cops shooting people not shooting at them. The idea is that many right wingers in america think education should be designed locally. Meaning Michigan should be able to design its own curriculum, different from Mississippi. That the federal government has no business telling the states what should go on in the classroom.
Which is mostly code for: trumplandia wants to teach more about Christianity and a positive view of American history while rich America wants to keep religion out of the classroom and teach some of the negative aspects of US history.
There is also a good amount of racial animosity in the decision. Right wingers don't want anyone from DC telling them how to deal with African Americans in the schools.
