2022 College Track & Field Open Coaching Positions Discussion

This is the one job everyone is being really weird about so it must be something that's kind of off the board.

A lot of high school coaches posting coy messages on Twitter which is weird.

Does Ross take anyone from NC A&T with him? Does anyone from SIU goes with Joseph to Ohio State? Any word if Carl is going with Leroy? Still no word on SFA, North Texas, Georgia Southern, I guess ORU as well. What is the deal at Western Kentucky?

I'd imagine that's a good hire. Though I don't really don't know that much about his coaching, only his track career.

Seriously? Auburn had multiple throws perform at NCAA and Burrell would be crazy to remove Ebel from their staff. Kindt has only been there a year and made significant progress with the distance/xc team.

Ebel has way too much money in throws. Some of the money is being handed out to kids way below auburn level. Will not be successful without all that cash. But his son is on the team and could see Burrell keeping him around to finish out time with his son.

Is it or is not?

Wasn't Spry pretty successful at Auburn? Didn't he win a couple of team trophies - if not championships? Granted he's been there a long time and that might have been a while ago, but I thought Auburn was generally a good program overall.

How do you know there is too much money in throws? and what is your assessment of “too much money”? 9 times out of 10 throws coaching are working with very little. I highly doubt the money that Ebel has is so much it’s a detriment to the program.

I’m told it’s him for the head job. Announcement should come soon. Notice A&T didn’t put out a posting for the job.

Cameron Burrell last competed at the 2018 NCAA DI Outdoor Championships.

Sean "Squirrel" Burrell was winning titles at the LHSAA Championships as late as 2020.

God forbid someone have inside knowledge on a program. Yes they are throwing money around to athletes that will not even score in SEC. That is money wasted.

That made it sound like I wasn't sure if he won team championships. He didn't. I meant, "didn't he win a couple of team trophies, even if he didn't win championships?"

He won the 2006 womens national title and had a small handful of men’s top 4 trophies. No SEC titles.

Actually, that made you sound worse…. He won the NCAA Outdoor Championship on the women’s side in 2006.
