This thread was deleted by a volunteer moderator. I certainly don't want a thread this big deleted so I've restored. THat being said, this thread has served it's purpose. I've closed it to new posts.
We have a new 2024 vaccine thread here. New people don't need to try to wade through 20,000 posts to figure out what is going on.
Lol I love this kind of logic. The authors say the 'damage' is transient, minor, and lower grade than many other viral infections and vaccines with sterling safety records
Everything is damage!
A side product of the electron transport chain is superoxide radicals that cause cancer and aging. Simply breathing oxygen and being alive is TOXIC - what else are “they” hiding from us??
Getting good vaccines in Feb 2021 instead of Feb 2022 saved at least 300k American lives. Inconsequential!
Warp Speed. Inconsequential.
I know you Trumpers REALLY want this to be a Trump success story, but it isn’t.
Given that prior vaccine Ph3 trials’ enrollments took multiple years and the COVID vaccines took about a year I’m going to say OWS made a large difference unless you have evidence otherwise - especially given that the goal of OWS was to accelerate the enrollment and regulatory process.
255 Million Americans, 76% of the population, will NOT be getting another jab of the mRNA goop.
Embarrassing and humiliating for the vax mob mafia as they lose again.
"A Pfizer spokesperson said overall the company expects 24% of the population, or 79 million people, to receive vaccine doses in 2023, which includes both primary doses and boosters."

Yep. You’re welcome to think that. You’d be mostly wrong though.

“Mostly wrong” … we’re making progress
Feel free your share your evidence but until I see data otherwise I will remain confident in my assessment.

I find OWS is a good litmus test for the mindlessly partisan.
Left leaning times should support it - it shows that big government is still capable of executing on specific policy. And that we should be spending more on translational research and engineering.
Most criticism of it from the left is grounded in partisan nonsense.

Not surprising since Covid has been relegated to a “bad seasonal flu.”
Thanks to durable T cell immunity driven by….
Infection alone or infection PLUS 3 doses according to the CDC. Remember, if you believe the CDC, two doses plus infection was exactly equal to infection alone versus serious outcomes. The booster plus infection (hybrid immunity) was only marginally better. Nevertheless, Omicron (infection) is what gave durable cell-mediated immunity and ended the pandemic. Almost every single person got Omicron or her sub-lineages, vaccinated or not. Including me and it was nothing. But I’m also not old or sickly.

True. Omicron was the driving force ending the pandemic. It “vaccinated” or “boosted” a very high percentage of people whether they wanted to be or not. Unfortunately, of course, it killed a lot along the way as well.
1) some of the execution was wonky, with a biy of cronyism.
2) it was incredibly obvious—-Pearl Harbor was bombed and the FDR decided to not cede the territory snd start committing resources. That isn’t a brave decision. It is an obvious decision.

Omicron killed mostly the unvaccinated though - it’s a no brainer

1) Vaccination gives durable response, we have more data on it than Omicron.
2) Hundreds of thousands of Americans died to achieve infection driven immunity.

Omicron causes mild infection and a corresponding weak and less durable immune response (if that’s the only exposure to COVID a person has). It did not end the pandemic alone.
Infection with Omicron after vaccination produces cross-neutralizing antibodies to other variants of concern, whereas this induces a limited response to non-Omicron variants in unvaccinated individuals.
‘Unlike WA1 and Delta, Omicron replicates to low levels in the lungs and brains of infected animals, leading to mild disease with reduced expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and diminished activation of lung-resident T cells. Sera from individuals who were unvaccinated and infected with Omicron show the same limited neutralization of only Omicron itself.’
