This could be the biggest joke of a hire of all time!
No experience whatsoever. These hires are becoming comical. I can put money on FSU going the Kenyan route to help the kid preserve his job.
Super sad to see FSU hire someone like this. Thought they were a more serious program. Braman would never. Holy downgrade
New coach, new team identity. It took a lot for FSU to be a distance power. Kudos for the success they had. New head coach thinks scholarship is better spent in other areas with the current landscape of the ACC and NCAA. This new hire is also their DO, so don’t expect much money in his area. This is a stepping stone job for him, and a low funded area for FSU. Perfect hire.
Yeah…. Nothing like a top assistant from the program of the year (three trophies last year) getting a promotion to coach at another school with the same goals.
Shame. It’s like FSU should have hired a mid major coach that gives kids a great experience with a lot of fun.
But seriously, get over it. Big boy jobs go to people from big boy programs.

I completely agree with you except for the mid major coach part. Yes, SOME coaches fit that bill but many of them don’t. Don’t tell me Mike Hillyard wouldn’t coach circles around this young buck…

Murphy had some type of job at Arkansas. I know this because when all of the drama was going on at the end of NCAA indoors I saw him chilling with the Arkansas coaching staff. If you’ve run for Coach Buck & coached with Coach Buck you’ve been mentored by one of the best coaches & recruiters on the planet so you’re primed for a paid job yourself, plus Murphy has movie star looks.

Everyone once in a while I take a look at this thread to see the goings on in the college coaching world. Nothing changes. College coaches are a miserable lot. Always jealous, feeling betrayed, and telling everyone within ear shot about how exhausted they are. 90% of you all should just quit tbh.

Administration is spending everything on football (as they should). They will only have 5 coaches and very small roster and scholarship compared to the rest of the big 12 and NCAA. They will be severely underfunded with the new ncaa limits allowing some schools 45 scholarships and roster spots. The word is Colorado lost scholarships from the previous limit on the mens side of 12.6 I dont think its any surprise they will focus on distance with most of if not all of there resources.
I assume alot of programs that wont have 45 scholarships will pick one or two event areas. WF, Syracuse, Notre Dame, ect... will go all distance and some schools will go all sprints. The only programs able to be well rounded will be the ones who have 45 scholarships like UNC, Texas, Georgia, Texas A&M, Oregon, BYU, Iowa State, Tennessee and so on.
