Liar loans which were really the result of lax regulation of the loan industry because Republicans removed regulation.
Extended low interest rates which caused more risk taking by financial institutions.
Liar loans getting packaged with good loans and sold as a group without disclosing the liar loans. Again, caused lax or removed regulation driven by republicans.
Credit default swaps, equivalent to everyone on the block buying insurance on one house, then having a burn party. Again, should have been illegal, but it got by lax republican regulation.

the GDP Now model is inaccurate right now because of huge pre-tariff buying. It will balance out to, probably, 1-2% growth when they report 1Q GDP growth.
But yeah if the market had fallen 8% just after Harris had taken the oath, ma'ga would be setting up death squads and saying things like 'someone is going to have to use their 2A rights here if you know what I mean.' Fox would be apoplectic yes.
Probably time for a gentle reminder that the markets are not the economy. There are other and better ways to measure whether an economy is going "up" or "down."
Now, do those other indicators, well, indicate that the economy might be contracting, and a recession be in the offing? Yes, to a degree some of them do, and personally I think a recession that starts this year is more likely than not.
But judging the economy by what's happening in the stock markets over a few days, with traders (or more likely algorithms) doing their monkey-see-monkey-do selloff, can be seriously misleading about the health of the economy overall.

Adjusted GDP, number, not from me but from those 40 analysts I quoted the other day is projected at 2.5%, that is more than okay at this point. I do agree that had the Market dropped, just like the Dems right now, Repubs would have been saying that, that is where we are.
However, if you get credit for the crap, you also get credit for Gas prices in my dropping more than they have in a long while. Now down to 3.01-3.06, it was in the 3.30's three weeks ago. Crude is down to $65.xx or was. Obviously Trump did not move that. But it is happening. While the market is an every day marker for many, big fluctuations when the market number got big, big are common. And if you are honest some of those stocks especially a Nvidia were way way over priced , yeah it hurst if you didn't get out.
