Trump’s sentencing in the NY hush money case has been delayed “to avoid any appearance-however unwarranted-that the proceeding has been affected by or seeks to affect the approaching Presidential election in which the Defendant is a candidate”
It is easy to be discouraged by the repeated special treatment for Trump. But I believe this is simply more added motivation to get out the vote and not let him squash all of his legal cases. The American voters can hold Trump accountable or they can vote for him to avoid legal justice and commit more crimes.
That was the best decision that judge could make for now. He's under enormous pressure on what to do with Trump's sentencing. Judges aren't supposed to take into account stuff like celebrity or politics or the national mood, but how the hell could Merchan not be affected by that? His family's safety is in play as well.
A first time felon in his late 70s convicted of a non-violent crime of this nature -- normally, there's no way jail or prison time is involved. A big fine and some community service and short probation. But Trump has shown no remorse, absolutely no respect for the judge, the court, or the American justice system at all. He goes out of his way to publicly insult the justice system and the court. He's deliberately violated multiple court orders. How do you not give a criminal defendant behaving like that a much harsher than normal penalty? To do otherwise condones the behavior. Merchan has incredibly difficult decisions to make here, and kicking the can down the road here makes sense.
It's more likely that Merchan will be disbarred than Trump sees jail time.
we have to submit to incompetent traitorous minority rule, just for the privilege of supporting these right wing losers who don't carry their weight and bring economic devastation every time they are president, just like they have retarded the economies of their own states. Always remember there hasn't been a recession since the 1970s when a Dem has been president.
@SteveRattner · 47m If there are makers and takers in the American economy, one thing is for sure: blue states are the makers.
Nope. M!AGA Mike at Dump's request had someone find out who was going to the cemetery, whether they were maggots, and when they were going. He found them a family that met Dump's schedule and needs for adoration. Dumper "staff" required them to sign letters saying they approached Dump first and invited him. Not true.
You know the mom of the dead guy is a maggot because she had the gall to wear a RED dress to the event. What mom wears a party dress to visit her son's grave? Obviously, she was planning to dance on it with Dump.
BTW, the Dump staffer who knock the female military person to the ground to force their way in was a Jan 6th organizer.
"Justin Caporale, a deputy campaign manager for Donald Trump’s reelection bid ... was also listed as an on-site contact during the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol."
After all the damning sh!t that has come out I am in disbelief that someone still believes Trump's version of events.
Yeah sure.
Donnie was just innocently sitting in Mar A Lago and got a phone call from the gold star family to come up and have a thumbs up picture with them at the 3rd annual "memorial" at the grave of their son. Nevermind that Trump never visited any of the many more killed during his term. Nevermind that Trump has never given a ratz ass about any dead soldiers. (Except the ones he could use to sully Biden). Nevermind that Trump just happened to arrive with a full video crew and cause a fight with an employee. Nevermind that he had a pre-rehearsed narrative to claim that Biden- Harris refused to show up when they were never invited. Nor would they know anything about this made up memorial. Nevermind that it was hatched right after Trump started getting obliterated in the press with his stupid comments about veterans coming home in bad shape with holes in them.
Yeah, It takes all kinds of stupid to try to peddle that crap here.
The families confirm he was invited and have openly condemned the media and Harris for not only refusing the invite but trying politicize the event to attack Trump.
Biden's and Harris' teams pushed back against claims from GOP Sen. Tom Cotton and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard that that had been invited alongside Trump.
the people buried under their feet are not supposed to be used for political adverts.
there is an actual law about this. Not that m'agas care about laws.
Biden filmed a literal campaign ad in the same section of the cemetery. Where was your fake outrage then?
This is a lie. Arlington national has a designated army photog. It would be standard to take a respectful picture of a sitting president visiting his son's grave.
Trump was doing nothing like that. He brought a full film crew, bullied staff and had a script that would immediately go out on tic toc for a campaign ad slamming Biden.
The white house confirmed they received no invite to this Trump photo scheme. Are we surprised that Trump might lie?

Trump team says that have an Arlington video that will support their version of the events.
It is a beautiful and tremendous video. The likes of which have never been seen. Grown men have had tears in their eyes watching the video. They have said "Sir, when will you release this incredible video?". Trump says in 2 weeks.

By far the most likely thing to occur will be you lying about the Trump hooker case like you did on page 192, post # 3835. That's almost 100% assured.
Merchan "disbarred" or anything similar = 0.0000001%.
Trump in jail = 5% and increasing every time he speaks about the case.
This is a little bit interesting. I thought that the expansion of medicaid was being funded by the feds. This being the case, the "drop" in education funding may be no drop at all.
For example (and yes, I know that many folks here have this weird fear of numbers - but I'll assume you are not one of them):
Hypothetical Budget: Before
Total Budget: $1,000,000
Health Care: $207,000 (your 20.7%)
Education: $230,000 (23.0%)
Hypothetical Budget: After
Total Budget: $1,243,000 (Added $243,000 coming from the feds for expanded medicaid)
Health Care: $450,000 (your 36.2%)
Education: $230,000 (18.5%)
Note that there has been zero change in the funding of education. It is simply a case of the percentage of total budget dropping because of added federal dollars for the medicaid expansion.
Here's a math problem regarding education:
A system spends the 4th most in the country yet 40% of its high schools have not one single student proficient in math. Was the spending successful?
In other words, you are one of the folks here who have a weird fear of numbers.
I'll have to chalk up the four minutes that I spent providing you with a learning opportunity to my lost causes account.

Maybe that school system has a lot of really low IQ students in it. Like total idiots. If you factor that in, maybe the spending was successful. Relatively. Relatively, meaning relative to other things. You know what I'm saying? Like maybe having 40% of schools without a single student proficient in math is an improvement over previous years. You know what I'm saying?
The concept we should really be focusing on here is "law of diminishing returns." Or maybe return on investment (ROI). ROI is favorite of real Americans like me. The bottom fvcking line, man. Bang for the buck.
It's kind of like responding to your posts. One can put effort, as I have, into educating you about Russian criminal actions to interfere with American elections and politics, and Russian criminal initiatives to con and propagandize innocent Americans, but what's the point of doing that vis-à-vis you? Where is the ROI on our efforts, if you bury your head in the mush every time? We hit the law of diminishing returns really fast with you. Ostrich head. Are you related to that Newman guy? Block head in a round hat? He can't read anything either. He can't even read stuff he links. He is diminished. Are you diminished? I can't stand people with diminished abilities.

Here's the rule:
The public can take photos at Arlington National Cemetery without a release from Arlington or the Army Department. But Arlington National Cemetery’s media policy prohibits filming or photographing “if it conveys the impression that cemetery officials or any visitor or family member is endorsing any product, service or organization.”
Here's what happened:
Joe Biden was NOT running for office at the time (he was already VP) and the ad/photo in question contained a disclaimer that said the use of Defense Department footage does not imply an endorsement of any campaign.
So yeah, no need for any outrage back then because the rules were followed and he honored the fallen.
At no point in his life has Biden honored the fallen. He lied repeatedly to get multiple draft deferments to get out of Vietnam. He constantly lies and says his kid died in Iraq. He murdered 13 Americans servicepeople in Afghanistan and then looked at his watch the whole time their bodies were being brought off the plane. He was invited to the ceremony Trump was photographed at. He refused to attend because he doesn't give a damn.
Joe also did his campaign ad on May 25, 2020. He was not the VP and he was actively running for president when he did the ad.
He took the picture when he was VP he politicized the fallen when it suited him in 2020.
Not minority rule. A constitution governs a constitution. You want mob rule? Majority rule?
I meant a republic.
huh? france is a republic. Germany is a republic. what does being a republic have to do with anything? A republic makes its own rules on how to elect its leaders.

Yeah, but Biden didn't wear a big, goofy grin and give a thumbs up while standing on a fallen soldier's grave. I'm sure you'll agree that means Biden is no PATRIOT!

The big issue I see is that the IRS has to try and get thieves to pay back money they have probably already spent (which is why they are not seeing large revenues yet - but justice must be served). “Not paying taxes is theft.”
Well, you answered why Republicans have decimated the IRS by not funding them to replace retirees and people who leave ... understaffed by attrition.
The thieves (their donors) must be protected ... because if they are forced to pay taxes they won't have the money to donate to republican politicians.
You mean tax cheats like the president’s son, right?

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty Thursday to all nine charges in his federal tax case, in a surprise move on the day that an agonizing weekslong trial was supposed to begin.
