I'm ngl you may be right. That entire heat seemed a little TOO fast... especially since every following heat was around the 10.4-10.5 range
Plus, he qualified for the 200m in 20.99. How can you almost run sub 10.00 but can barely crack 21? Doesn't add up to me.
It was confirmed to be a faulty timing system for that race. The officials in the announcers booth that were timing it separately had the winning time in that race as 10.3.
There is NO confirmation for this comment as there are no 'officials' in the announcers booth. And IF someone was timing it 'separately'... they would have done so with a stop watch. LOL

Silly boy and your silly comment. The timing system being faulty for that race was told to me directly by someone in the announcers booth where they time every race to check for timing errors and also to get splits. They each have decades of experience and they ALL agreed that there was a timing error. That's right. 100% of them.
So stop already with your silly comments. He did NOT run 10.01.
Also does anyone think they're still gonna delay the meet by an hour or so? It's gonna be even worse today than yesterday. Or is it too late for that?
102 the high. Still in the 90s when the 3200s go off. Could get messy and might make the races turn a bit tactical.
Not sure how they can delay when the last event is already just before 10pm. I don’t want to hear about the CIF temp rules again if they aren’t willing to adhere to it at the biggest meet of the year then us coaches shouldn’t have to think about it at practices anymore.
- Girls 300h is set up to be INSANE! Herbst, Fontenot, and Edwards. Winning time will easily be under 40.
- Girls 4x400 is gonna be great. Carlsbad always makes thing interesting, but I suspect Wilson will be far too ahead to catch. Morgan put down a relaxed 52.7 last night so I wonder how she will do today.
Girls 300H - Bowen-Fontenot can't break 40 because she can't hurdle with her left leg, so she has to take 17 steps for every hurdles except for hurdle 2 where she takes 15 steps. She takes too many steps to break 40. No idea why she hasn't learned how to hurdle with her left leg by now. That would be a good question for a reporter to ask her.
Edwards has the potential to break 40 but she is very inconsistent. She could run sub 40 or not even break 41. Who knows.
Morgan Herbst thinks she can run well under 40 tonight. We'll see. It's possible for her, but easier said then done. On the plus side, her 39.95 record race from last week was not flawless by any stretch of the imagination, but can she clean up those problems in just a few days?
Girls 4x400 - Last night MORGAN Herbst ran 53.5 on 3rd leg and MAKENNA Herbst ran 52.8 on anchor. (Spectators and announcers get them mixed up all the time. Hint - Makenna almost always runs anchor and she usually wears her lucky green socks in big meets. The twins also have different running styles but the green socks is the easiest difference to spot.)
52.8 anchor Makenna jogged her 800 last night so she was well rested for the 4x400. Tonight Makenna is going for the state record in the 800 so she won't be as fresh for the 4x400. (FYI, the state record is 2:02.04.)
Carlsbad will only win the girls 4x400 if several other teams have off days. So it's not impossible for Carlsbad to win but it's a longshot.
Is it possible for Aydon Stefanopoulos to win the state 1600m? He’s only less than a second off the only two other racers with faster season bests than him: Benjamin Bouie and Conor Lott. He’s my pick.

It may come down to who can handle the heat the best. It's supposed to be around 100 for the 1600 finals.

Since Fresno is a category 3 area, isn't the rule that the WBGT needs to be over 92F to postpone/cancel? Wasn't it under 90F all of yesterday? The WBGT forecast for this evening maxes out at 86F. Seems like they are adhering to their rules.

Kids ran so fast to qualify they’re gonna be burned out.
Someone is going to have to figure out how wet bulb works because I clearly must not understand. It’s currently 101 and not sure how that could possibly be under 92 wet bulb.

You posted the rule yourself a week ago. It's WBGT (wet bulb globe temperature).
Pretty easy to calculate an estimate with all the data
The wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) is a measure of environmental heat as it affects humans. Unlike a simple temperature measurement, WBGT accounts for all four major environmental heat factors: air temperature, humidity, r...
