Oh the rich 40k a year private school is getting cut down to size online. The poor rich white Christians who are always so oppressed in this cruel cruel world.
1. Not even close to 40k a year.
2. We’re talking about high school cross country here. Chill.
3. CBA is very good. So is Herriman. So is Niwot. Now AF seems to be back in the mix. That’s what makes this fun. Competition ultimately decided in 1 race on a Saturday afternoon in December.
These are perennially good programs with tremendous coaches. They all have found success this season and will certainly have a chance on December 7th.
perennially good programs or private schools and schools with open enrollment? Hell of a lot easier to be a good coach when all the best talent in the area is able to go to your school. Utah and Colorado fit the open enrollment model and the private schools are obvious

Yes they are good and not being undervalued by Speed Ratings.

And they might not be so expensive if you show up as a fast Freshman.

CBA has quite the legacy dating all the way back to the 70s. Northeast was the only region other than California that was smart enough not to change historical courses. They have courses like Boudwin, Homdel, Van Cortlandt Park where they have historical data and history dating back to the 70s. Similar to how California has Woodward Park, Balboa Park, Crystal Springs. A few interesting things I found out is that their director of athetics actually placed 15th at nxn. pretty cool stuff. Also they really do have a sailing team, that's hilarious.

CBA really needs a 4th and 5th to be consistent and up their game to be on an even playing field as niwot and herriman. Though you could say the same about herriman's 5th.
123, why do you post about issues you know nothing about?? Are you just ignorant or a 14 year old. Your opinion is worthless unless you can back it up with specific s. Or maybe you are just an attention seeking loser. Don't post unless you can provide facts. And no ad hominem attacks.
9 months ago many people didn't even have them making NXN, but they just scored 6 points off Herriman in the 6A state meet, 8 points off Herriman when you merge all divisions.
I could see a world where they upset everyone to win NXN...
Being a little more realistic, they have serious podium chances.
You can take it to the bank: out of Herriman, CDA, and Niwot, American Fork will upset at least one of them to make the podium.

It's CBA. Christian Brothers Academy. CDA, Coeur De Alene is the up and coming big program from Idaho that is currently outshining rocky mountain and becoming the powerhouse program in the northwest.
The only reason why AF was able to finish so close to herriman at state was simply because it was really quite a bad day for herriman. However, it does show that they are clear #4 nationally.
I personally don't think they will be able to beat one of the top 3 teams at nxn. Niwot has depth, so that's not happening. Herriman even on their worst day, was still able to beat AF. CBA now has a 2 week gap for NXR to NXN. It's their best squad yet and I don't think they will give up #3 spot to AF or Southlake Carroll (whom I believe is the other team in contention).
Neverless, it was very impressive how well American Fork reloaded this year.

They dismiss Coach Mostert every time they need to reload and they always do. Carter Moore improved by a minute this year. Alex Williams also a minute, Bement 30 seconds. Mostert gets his guys fast and they could win but only if there are terrible days from every other team. Niwot would need to have everyone have an off day(cause of depth). CBA would require 5 and same for Herriman. It could happen but not likely
Not the best race by Haley. I feel for Vandegrift who couldn’t win their first state title but I think that Southlake and Vandegrift are the 2 favorites to auto qualify for NXN

Well the first posts were about recruiting. Then people were complaining they were underrated and it reminded me of Rocky Mountain and just got pissed(bad day personally). Sorry I said rude stuff. Summary is they recruit and they are being accurately valued by speed ratings.
Here's some speed data analysis from Herriman this year vs last year
takeaways:
- Herriman's top 5 is clearer this year
- Like last year, different 1/2/3 athletes throughout season (after Steadman was no longer #1)
- Like last year, team top-5 speed ratings avg fairly consistent through the year
- Soles is great at getting athletes to peak; 5/7 athletes had best race at NXN, and some were well above their yearly best / avg speed rating prior to NXN

This is super well done. Did you make this? If so do you perhaps have a job where you need to do this? If not I would advise finding one. I have a job where we use spreadsheets like this and this is very professional. At least for high school running performances.
spent a Friday off putting this together and its a side-hobby haha. Bill Meylan at Tully deserves the credit, I'm just a fan of the sport putting together his data for yall to enjoy! Thank you for the praise!

I know that whatever two NY boys team that make it to NXN probably won't do better than top 18, but the actual NY NXR meet is going to be insane. There are probably 7 teams that could win it, with really no HUGE favorite. Xavier, Saratoga, Ithaca, MW, Auburn, North Rockland, Colonie. Will be a crazy race to watch.
