Absolutely as a head coach you should be somewhat familiar with multiple disciplines in the sport, just in case you have to step in due to unforseen circumstances.
CLAREMONT, Ca. -- The Pomona-Pitzer Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Amber Williams as the next head coach for men's cross country and track & field and Assistant Professor of Physical Education.
So who is going to coach the distance runners? Interesting hire for the 2x national champion XC team that will probably be again #1 ranked entering the season.

Too much common sense here. That’ll get you banished from this board. You better start making more distance oriented posts

Well, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that we’ll find out who will coach the distance runners once she puts her staff together. It’s a bold take though so I could be wrong here.
😆 hahaha 😆 😂 Distance coaches better start making some allies with speed and power event coaches. AD'S are taking notes that a lot of head coaches have been fired at the hands whining entitled distance runners. ADs don't want a headache from a XC/TF. You're the distance king you can name several coaches let go because of this. I am fan of all coaches, but I know what's being said by ADs.

This is the truth right here. It’s why I decided to become the distance king. Self preservation was the name of the game for me
Why does this thread keep going back to distance v everyone? Stick with job news here
Tell that to the people who whine about the new hires not having enough of a distance background. Since you’re the job police, please share what intel you have

Please provide evidence of ADs taking notes about this specific thing. Otherwise you're just trying to stir the pot.
It should be known that Pomona Pitzer has been very odd about how they’ve handled their Mens XC/TF program since Tony Boston stepped away initially on sabbatical and then “kind of” permanently.
When this happened, Jordan Carpenter was on the staff and named interim head coach. Despite helping the team winning NCAAs and Boston being gone for a few years, they told him Boston might come back / he won’t be named full head coach. Being smart, Carpenter jumped ship and is doing well at BU.
Cue the next interim placeholder, Kyle Flores. He continues the strong tradition of the team doing well, wins a convincing NCAA XC title and the Athletic Dept once again says “ nope no permanent position for you! You’re out!” Flores wasn’t even part of the application process!
A very whacky scenario at PP and a lot of kids left very confused…

Additionally, please cite these sources in APA format in order to avoid an honor code violation.
Okay will do 😄 🤣 😂 😆. I like how nobody ever cite their source for 99% of the stuff we hear on this forum yet 35-45% of the time there is some truth to it. We all know that there are rumblings going on period. I love all coaches but we can't be blind to this.

Interesting that PP now has a female head coach for the men's team and a male head coach for the women's team. Does any other program have opposite genders for both head coaches? I think that's pretty unique.
