64:50 for ben fenton! beats his coach and Jimmy Whelan
Hats off to Ben, a great performance by him.
Indeed. I don't watch his YT, follow him on Insta or care much for his influencing but he's definitely in a purple patch and running well. I think ditching the marathons was a wise move (although, I was looking forward to shouting FENTON at him in London)

Wow that's a big step up since I last bothered to see how he was doing last year. Fair play! I seem to remember his training getting a lot of hate on here esp when sirpoc beat him at London - but he's clearly gone in the right direction. Still not going to watch his shopping/running channel though.
About as bad as it gets. The disappointing thing is this isn’t surprising, seems to happen every year (pretty much every race they’re all at tbh). 1 runs well, 1 usually runs average, rest drop out or run poorly.
I was just starting to get on board with there content, but they’ve shown just how weak they are (which was already well known). I don’t understand it, it’s 30 minutes of running, just grind it out.
They don’t seem to train hard enough imo, classic sign of that is inconsistent performances.

Would be 42= on the 2025 UK rankings, very decent
He did 12x1k nine days out around HM pace, and got 6.2 on his lactate meter (Nomio taken three hours before)
Someone commented on the video that he forgot to wipe the first drop of blood away before testing, Ben claimed if you looked closer you'd spot he'd done it but he'd actually wiped his finger on his sweat riddled shorts. So I think that 6.2 was contaminated/meaningless - I know lactate numbers can be very individual but if that number was genuine I'd expect a disaster if someone tried to run 60+ mins in that state
His coach appears to have dipped under 65 mins in the results, but looks like he was maybe pacemaking the first 10k in 30:00ish? Maybe dropped back to join Ben for the finish?
Victor Smangs blow up to 65:30 or so. Matt Fox, blessed unhinged king that he is, did have a point the other week when he critiqued Smangs’ training imo
Victor seems to do everything so “right” - very high mileage, lots and lots of threshold and lactate testing, but in the end he hasn’t really improved that much (at all?) in a few years. Maybe he should adopt a less nordic approach to training. But also, he is over 40 now, so maybe age is just catching up. I do like him, even if a bit of an odd duck
Lol just saw OMTIU has gone through a bunch of Athletic's Australia results posts from Maurie Plant and "verified" them. So corny. Expect him to do the same on all the popular influencers who did Berlin posts.

Ben's running well. He seems like a nice enough guy but his content is absolutely awful, even without all the shilling, I just don't understand how his channel does well. In the Berlin prep video he talks about how his last session was tinkered due to work stress, which involved going to "a place called Winchester" to shoot content for De'Longhi... you're stealing a living pal!
After watching their last YT, there seemed to be a quite a bit of confidence from RL & SB - Gidey appeared to be dropped in the session which was unusual for him so not surprised he didn't perform as well as he could. It was a pretty impressive session so I was excited to see the results.
But only 1 finisher? Christ.
And all the talk of Philly and her goals - she must be wondering how Astin has a nice pro team set up and she doesn't
From a level point I’m sure Philly would get into a team like that but I’m not sure she would thrive in a team where she not the main character

Heapsgoodrunners page which has a decent following reposting will gibbo/OMTIU rubbish too. Disappointing

Does he seem like a nice enough guy though? He seems totally out of touch and he will take money from literally anyone to shill their products. The bloke couldn't care less about the nonsense he dishes out to his subscribers as long as he's getting paid.
Dodgy online therapy? Just last week, Ben was shilling for Better Help, who in 2023 were fined $7.8mil for sharing sensitve customer data with third party advertisers like Facebook and Snapchat (including customer's health data and therapy emails/answers). But apparently this is all good because sometimes Ben gets sad when he has a bad session or whatever.
I'd argue that Ben's one of the worst of all these influencers.
Right, so Cole’s just whinged on Insta that he’s injured. Absolute shocker, that. Not sure what Mickey Mouse osteopath the lad has been listening to, but anyone with half a brain could see this coming. He’s been banging out absolutely ridiculous volume lately, and his body language has been dreadful; looking miserable as sin every session, like a bloke marching straight to the gallows.
Let’s hope he finally clocks that slogging through endless junk miles without any actual physiological adaptation is proper bollocks. Running high mileage just for the flex is a mug's game, mate. Sort it out.

I agree. Morally, you can't make the argument he's nice. He
The only thing in his favour, he does seem to enjoy running and training; however, lest us not forget his Sports Direct deal, a company that lean heavily on horrific employment practices and sweatshops.
On top of all of this, Fenton still begs his viewers for money by asking them to sign up to Patreon where, in return, they get weekly training update videos (pretty much what he puts out for free). Sells horrific merch, probably just irons a logo on to cheap Ali Express crap, like Scullion does. Basically saying: give me your hard‑earned money so I don't need to work retail again and support me on my elite dream and my partner to ride around on a bike filming me.

Shut up you dork. As if you expect someone to do a deep dive into the employment practices or data breaches of their sponsors. Pretty much every company or government in the world is compromised if you dig deep enough. Even Oxfam were out there in Africa sex offending. Just take the money, enjoy it and move on Mr Felton.

Sweatshops like Nike, New Balance, Reebok, ASICS, Hoka, Saucony, and Under Armour etc do? Got you.

The only question you really need to ask is why you're so unhappy in your own life that you get so upset about someone getting injured
