In Fordy’s London Marathon guide, he mentions that he’s neurodivergent about 50 times. Will this be his latest marathon fail excuse? He hasn’t used this one yet
Love that they read the thread and took it in their stride.
Physiology of endurance running pod is the best out there, it's the antithesis to what we moan a lot about on this thread: attention seeking, bad training, dubious sponsorships and running fads.
I hope they never change a thing!
I would change one thing.
I wish Owain would limit his use of the word ‘like’. For example, a sentence of 30 words interspersed with 10 utterances of ‘like’ is incredibly distracting.
I dont know about that, but what I really wish he (and a lot other) would do is to limit themselves to one question at a time. Questions in the style of: "(question1)? and also (question2)?, for me I think that its a matter of (...), do you agree with that?" makes it really hard to follow and takes away a lot of speaking time from the guests.
Other than that I think the balance in that podcast is great, enjoy both when its only the hosts and when there is a guest (as long as the questions are kept short). Tbf I think its easy to fall into that trap when you know alot about the subject matter. Just dont be afraid to give the floor to the guests.

Fordy will run 10 miles or so at "goal pace" then shout, in his obnoxious mockney accent "Bobby's in trouble, people. He's about 4 miles back, let's wait here and walk it in with him"

Can’t wait for Mary’s autism to run wild through BP. Beaaaat the boyzzzz!! Do you know who I am?? Is the a brand I haven’t faked content for? Beat the boysssss!!! I’m a runner first, influencer second! Beat the boyzzz! Did you hear about me at London Mara 2025? Beat the boys!! I think I’m high, good night.
Surely it’s ADHD she’s pulling the self diagnosis on with all the jumping around like a child at 30 🤔
At that point she went to sixth on the British all-time list and an international vest of some kind wouldn't have been out of the question.
Ellish McColgan is in a different league with a 2 minute+ faster 10k.
Philly has to get faster at shorter distances. I think some sort of representative vest, like World Half Marathon could be on the cards, but to be one of the fastest three Brits is a tall order, unless a few ahead have injuries or blow up in the trial.
When did Philly race last? Has she any races lined up? Is she actually training?
Not sure when she last raced. She is training. She has a race lined up early (April 1, I think).

All I wanna know is: will he shave his pits for the marginal gains again?
Runna ambassador Sid Batty now injured and won’t be running the London mara. He’s another helmet who isn’t a runner but Parker just chucked cash at him because he has a semi decent following all for carrying a duck around to help his mental health. Yaaawn
Loved it when he mentioned he 'underperformed' at that 8k race.
You performed exactly as expected Eric. Your clearly in around 16:15 shape for 5km and so of course you blew to pieces the last 3km. What on earth made him think he was in better shape than that? Some mile reps? Some 3 min repeats?
From what I've seen of a brief look through his training, it seems clear that he's in 73 high (on a good day)/2:35 shape.
Has he even broken 33:30 for 10km? Boston goes only 1 of 2 ways:
1: Sets off at sub 2:30 pace and blows to pieces
2: Can't even get himself up and moving at 2:29 pace, runs 2:36ish and claims that was the plan all along.
He's literally lying to himself when he says he's 'built so much speed' in his 'winter of speed'. Deep down he must know.

I don’t think he’s in 2:27 shape or whatever he thinks, but he’s ran faster than 2:35 a few times. I think he’s still in 2:31-2:32 shape. He’ll go for 2:30, slowly fade at the end, get a few seconds of his PR +/- and call it a win because his mileage was lower.
Doesn’t matter what he does, he already had a built in excuse since Berlin is his real goal he claims. Though his winter of speed resulted in three races a mile(so many turns!) a hilly half he wasn’t tapered for, and an 8k (but a 5k PR and a mile race the day before!)
Somehow his winter of speed didn’t result in even a legit 5k race. He needs to really rethink his training, listen to what a coach says, and take some time to really stick with something. But I do think it all comes down to views for him, since this is his job now. Other than mass group training plans for $150 a month.
Philly and Daniel have moved house. Good luck to them, although from somewhat bitter experience, I'm not sure a house that needs work will be conducive to the Olympic marathon goal

What on earth happened to team makou at the ten?!. Only Beattie finished. I thought the group was being built around Leonard when it first started, but Beattie seems to be the one improving and moving forwards now and the rest are fairly hit and miss

In a shocking twist their Instagram has gone silent, despite the last YouTube's vid assurance that that will be the place to find out how it went...

Are they renting? Which banking establishment is providing a mortgage to an influencer? When with a decent down payment their entire career is a house of cards wait to collapse.

If there is one thing that we know about Floberg and that's the fact he has absolutely no idea what shape he's in.
A good way of finding out your fitness level is to race and use a VDOT calculator, which I don't think he understands about. He runs an 8k in 26:22. He's in 2:34 shape. That is a fact. He has about 2/3 weeks left and probably won't get faster.
In his mind he still honestly thinks he's in 2:28 shape. Probably quicker because he honestly thinks he was in 2:28 shape in Chicago but the "GPS issue" caused him to run too slow. He doesn't understand gains are not linear because he has no idea at all how he got from 3:00 to 2:40 so quickly.
I don't understand this "winter of speed". He doesn't seem to be running any different to his usual marathon builds, he is just running less
Not a great days work and some of them seem to be hit and miss but:
Cross just ran a 2.10 marathon debut 6 weeks ago
Gidey has made a world champs final, run 27.40 odd on the roads etc
Beattie as you say is the one who has improved the most.
Not sure about the others - Leonard blows hot and cold but has had some good results in there, Elson I think will always be undone by the Achilles injury and the general moving on of times during his injury but he’s medalled internationally at Euro Cross.
Astin, I’m not sure what’s going on. India Weir is quite new and has had ok results so far.
People seem to like to bash Makou and the drop outs can be frustrating but from a British perspective where we have so few track/ running groups etc and elites/ sub elites struggle to make money from the sport, I’m really glad Hoka are investing and I think it will all come good in time
After watching their last YT, there seemed to be a quite a bit of confidence from RL & SB - Gidey appeared to be dropped in the session which was unusual for him so not surprised he didn't perform as well as he could. It was a pretty impressive session so I was excited to see the results.
But only 1 finisher? Christ.
And all the talk of Philly and her goals - she must be wondering how Astin has a nice pro team set up and she doesn't
