Nick Bester confirms he has an Achilles tear and will start rehab in the summer, but in the meantime will still do full sends at London marathon, Swansea half and some other races. What could go wrong?
obviously an attention seeking headline. no one with a tore achilles could even run, never mind targetting marathons.
is he actually injured or just playing up for the cameras to keep himself in the public eye.
chin up donkey, the adidas fun club trotters will still give your biltong sword a rubbin

Yeah exactly that clickbait title saying "is this the end of me", he knows such videos make more views and clicks lol
Talking about how he is going to rehab but at the same time smashing track sessions and running more mileage than ever.. I'm lost

Yeah that is a FOD style click bait headline. They seem to be getting more and more extreme. RtJ did one for his livestream, Fenton regularly does them too.
They will plead that it’s the only way to beat the algorithm but it’s still incredibly lame.
Besters plan makes absolutely no sense. 10 minutes of woe is me, I’m injured. I need to do 10-14 week rehab without running only to then reveal that won’t start until he’s done London Marathon and Swansea half in June. A ludicrous plan.

Absolute nonsense, like what's the gain dragging out for a 'full send' London where you struggle around in 2:28 or something, 10 minutes off your target time when you've got some serious rehab to do.
To be fair he's all about longevity in the sport though

Whats quite strange is all the people wishing him a "speedy recovery" and making it sound like he is badly injured and he can't run at all..
Hope that he can get to his very best(er) soon, but damn people don't have common sense when they comment..
With Cole, RTJ and Bester all injured, Welsh Runner will be rubbing his hands with glee as it’ll increase his chances at London to be the first YouTuber to cross the line.
Saw Dick Besters post. Immediately caught on that the only way to find out about this nonsense would be having to watch his YouTube. Not a fok. Clicks clicks clicks, get a real job you thief.
If he has an achilles tear, he would most likely need to be immobilised and any running would be off the cards for quite a while.
I feel that he is being a little economical with the actualite.
I just can't watch it. Why is it the same stuff with these guys like it's life or death and the world is going to end when they have an injury.....it's always the same script, except Welsh runner of course who does us all a favor and just goes missing. None of the below , for that alone ppl should give him kudos ! Anyway back to the script,
1.This is the video I didn't want to make
2.It took me x days to make it
3. I share the highs and lows on this channel cause I'm great
I mean we get it injury sucks, but you need to deal with it without the woe is me bs. Listening to him he's all over the place. He talks about it being sore for 10 years, but he always said he'd deal with it if it hit 7 out of 10 ...ffs. Recently it hit that , because he injured it, but he doesn't make the connection, I mean braincells would help him if anyone could spare a few.. .but thinks running is easier then walking, because he gets through the hard run then limps like a cripple afterwards.
Utter twit . Badly injured , walking like a cripple, may need surgery and never hit the heights he has done before , but he's going to race because he can represent England and might stop if pain hits 8 . He won't hit a PB though and that's ok he says...and what a guy , if he's not racing , and rehabbing his torn achilles, he might pace a 25 minute parkrun for people.
Surgery is guaranteed. A brain transplant at the same time might be an idea, I'll start the crowdfunding.
Despite being a longtime fan of the mindless entertainment this thread provides, I’ve never watched or seen any of these YouTubers…until now. The way it’s been described it was too juicy to resist clicking - albeit briefly, couldn’t watch more than a few minutes.
First thing’s first I had no idea that Nick Bester was “speedsuit guy” (as my middle aged TC training partners and I used to call him when we’d see him in Battersea).
Secondly, is all influencer content like this? Completely nonsensical perspective and awful advice, which, for someone with his achievements, is quite surprising. I sincerely hope nobody is taking advice from this guy.
Finally, unbelievably low quality production. If being a hobby runner were my full time job I feel like I’d invest a bit more in quality production equipment - at the very least a teleprompter rather than having to stare at the ceiling for my script every few seconds.

Yep that sums up our Nick. He did mention in the video its a "suspected" torn achilles so I reckon its not torn (as surely pain would be too much to run). He knows he's nowhere near 2.20 shape, yet still calls himself a sub 2.20 marathoner and hes going in early with the london excuses already. Lets not forget he was humbled by sirpoc at london last year.
Considering he's a running 'coach' he aint half brainless. Whoever is paying for his coaching needs to give their head a wobble.
All influencer content is similar, although welsh runner’s is actually even lower quality production (by some margin actually…), which is quite the achievement!
I am glad he that he included that picture of him kneeling while holding his hand to his forehead and nursing his achilles, or else I would not have understood anything.

Tbh I would quite like to see a series of videos showing the diagnosis, the scans, the rehab , return to training etc. But I doubt that he would do that.
duller than sitting into your conservatory, listening to rain fall for an hour. easy to see why he aint getting any sponsor interest
the other guy on the show is a clueless jogger and the girl thinks she big time but is just a mediocre trotter in need of a job.
Dan Nash quoted this post in his strava comments hahah.
Hi Dan, big fan of the pod btw keep them coming
Love that they read the thread and took it in their stride.
Physiology of endurance running pod is the best out there, it's the antithesis to what we moan a lot about on this thread: attention seeking, bad training, dubious sponsorships and running fads.
