From what I can tell, Trump is not denying that he took top secret documents which I'm sure he'll argue that he has declassified. But, the question that keeps bugging me is, why? Why did he take them? Was he looking for some nighttime reading? Was he planning on turning Mar a Lago into the Trump library?

I agree that there is a lot of Trump obsession, but the time he has been out of office is irrelevant. He is fundraising to run again, giving speeches and still agitating to overturn the election in several states. polls show that Republicans expect him to run an that he will be the favorite for the nomination if he runs. So the attention paid to him isn't surprising.

That's especially true when you look at the number of Republicans who are letting H. Clinton live in their heads. She hasn't held elective office since early 2009. She hasn't run for office since 2016. Yet she still gets press from Republicans. The GOP candidate for Congress in Alaska has even stated that Congress should spend more money on hearings for Benghazi and Clinton's emails (despite Trump's Administration deciding that there wasn't enough there to prosecute).
