Race between Drew Hunter of Loudoun Valley versus Salisbury of La Salle in final mile of DMR. Pretty iconic comeback from Loudon Valley after first runner took a fall.
I definitely think it needs 4 specific brackets with 16 entrants in each bracket. This would keep it from a scenario where you only see world distance or road races being left after the first couple rounds. The final 4 would be some combination of the best Road Race vs the best Distance Track race and US Only best race vs Best "other" track event performance.

All other Track Events (sprints, throws, jumps)
In the spreadsheet it listed Jordy Williams/Villanovas win over Cheserek in 2015 Penn Relays as a DMR but I believe it was a 4xMile

I like this to an extent.
We should at least be sure that some combination of different types of race make it to the elite eight.
Could we do a re-seeding like the NBA is discussing?
The elite eight can get reseeded based on which races have gotten the most and least votes so far, ensuring that the two most popular races don't meet in the quarter or semi finals.
Just let me know what you decide and if you want a real bracket we can do 1 of 64 or 4 of 16...

P.S. I know Rudisha's WR race was better but Brazier's run has to be in a best American race bracket at least if we're gonna include Centro's 1500 gold. Historically, I think they are both just as significant but Brazier's way faster on the world stage relatively.

As an American, the 3 races I have enjoyed the most at the time this the last decade were:
-Mo + Galen 1-2, 10k olympics
-Centro Olympic gold
-Monaco the year where Kiprop ran super fast
The last one doesn't really work in retrospect, but when it happened it was amazing.

for 2015 Monaco 1500m. That is the first race I think of when someone asks me to name an epic race.
Another honorable mention for me is Hanna green winning 800m at Paris diamond league from behind in 2019
I remember watching the 2012 paris 5k and felt kinda sad looking at the 1-2-3 from Beijing four years ago fall off the pace together, especially considering what they had to go through to get that 1-2-3...
People do forget Blake beat Bolt in the 2012 Jamaican trials in both the 1 and the 2.
There was also that magical night in 2011 with his 19.26 off a bad start. wonder if he could've beaten bolt then.
yeah if anything was surprising in the 2010s, it was yuki beating all of the africans and rupp at that boston marathon. i remember the announcers making fun of him when he was surging. it was the equivalent of like fauble and ward (with all due respect to them; they are both fantastic marathoners) beating the top africans and rupp. his guts and determination were unbelievable
also in the 2012 london 200m, we saw blake (19.44) challenging bolt (19.32) and for a few moments at like 100-150 you didn't know who's gonna win. When was the last time we saw somebody challenge a 19.32!?
