I talked with a member of BYU’s team last night and he said that at regionals BYU’s top three ran the race super easy which NAU did not. That’s what hurt them

Correct myself. He was sixth man so he would not have improved the score that much. But could have been close for second.

Anyone saying age isn't an advantage for men is wrong, plus mormons are creepy and gross.

I think the NAU team being sick makes way more sense, I know anything can happen on any given day but considering their consistency I think that is a good explanation. They looked off.

At one point they showed a Purdue runner and his legs looked like jello/like they were going to snap, his knees were flopping around and I actually had to look away because it just looked so painful and I can't imagine what he's doing to his body by running like that.

So the winning time was 30:32. Now thats a great year in NCAA Div.1 xc .

Yes, a strong culture is certainly a contributing factor. But unfortunately (or fortunately for BYU) there are other programs with strong cultures whose runners are much younger and are thus at a disadvantage.

I am. I figured Texas would be last. Harvard could have been near Columbia. But they had a couple of blowups (which you can't have at this meet), so there you go.

The surprise of the meet, though, was the Harvard men! Where did that come from? Bring 'Em Young winning overall was definitely an upset, but it wasn't 100% out of the blue. Harvard getting 15th was.

I am no fan of BYU but let's take a second to look at how many truly bigoted people there are, here but in the "real world as well." If you are somebody that says "mormons are creepy and gross" then you are by definition a bigot. Please take a hard look at your own morality before judging others for putting a lot of effort into living what they see as the right way for them.

When you get a nice muddy course late in the season, the teams that run more hills come out on top. In the mud strength beats flat speed.

So about 5:00 flat a mile. So Ingebretsen could have jumped in this race and smoked a cigarette the whole way and destroyed our entire NCAA field.

It looks like Harvard's number 1 runner and regional champion didn't even run as well. They probably would have still finished very far back, but not last if she would have run. The 2nd finisher (and #1 at nationals) in the region was 94th at nationals.

Too bad they didn't have their 4% on, maybe they wouldn't have been such trash.

So a religion that encourages a healthy living style, based on good family morals that believes in Jesus Christ should be banned from the ncaa??? So the same with every catholic school or religious school??

Why is it an advantage to be a 24-25 year old senior who took 2 years off (cuz going for a run once a month doesn’t count as running) compared to being 22-23? If the NCAA and BYU were to do away with the missions and have a group of guys the same age as everyone else, I would bet money BYU does as well or better on average.

Having to figure out who’s coming and going to/from missions and who’s gonna get back in shape is not an advantage.
