If Raquel Welch would have given up her acting career she clearly would have dominated the incredibly difficult and dangerous sport of Roller Derby.

Serena is the G.O.A.T women's athlete, regardless of individual or team sport. To maintain the level of play she's been at for this long is nothing short of amazing. The women's game currently has a lot of good young talent and Serena is just mopping the floor with them. She's also taken great care of body for it to be able to hold up this long.
Ped's. That's how you do it at 38.
Same for Federer? He's also 38. You all are so dumb and ignorant calling her an overweight cheater. Some sports actually require dexterity and mental acuity. PEDs don't give you that. Believe it or not, some sports require more than being as thin as possible and running around in a circle with minimal strategy like some kind of race horse.

Carlos Lopes.

Serena is likely doping but the idea that a 38 year old can't win is ludicrous.
She might have used PEDs in the past but I dont think she's on them now. She's just a big strong woman., not exceptionally defined or quick

Yes, even if you look at the fastest serves of all time by female tennis players, Sabine Lisicki and Venus Williams are ahead of her--two very thin and not muscular players. The same way Nadal's size doesn't give him an advantage over scrawny players like Djokovic or Federer. Tennis requires a complex set of skills. Height is really the only required physical characteristic of a good tennis player and even there, taller isn't always better.

Natural physical decline begins from about age 27. If you are seeing winners at 38 you're looking at a probable doper.

Correction: a big, strong, overweight middle-aged woman, hitting the ball as hard as a man. Much harder than in her 20's, when she was regularly losing to Justine Henin. Not quick and not defined. Like a Bulgarian weightlifter, who we all know to be clean. Nothing to see here.

Yes, ped's do give you that. They can also sharpen focus and improve hand-eye coordination - doping has gone way beyond simply adding physical strength. Keep up.
plenty of professional athletes, and I'm sure runners on this board, are stronger in their mid 30s than they were when they were in their early 20s. She's no longer fast on the court and doesn't have a great first step. Her size gives her great force which overpowers most of her opponents and she has consistent technique. There are a few girls who hit as hard and hit the ball earlier than Serena.

You have just correctly identified that doping is throughout sport now, and the advantages it can give an otherwise aging slowing female athlete in particular.

No and not necessarily.

You do understand that "probable" and "not necessarily" are consistent with each other? But Williams won't be one of the few possible exceptions.

There is nothing "scrawny" about Lisicki. She is a big athlete. But pace with the serve generally goes with height - longer levers - hence Karlovic and Isner at a shade under 7' - and Venus is 6'1". Groundstroke power, like Nadal and Serena have, requires serious muscle. Interestingly, Williams at 5'9" serves at a similar speed to Federer who is 6'1" - both recorded a fastest serve of 207kph for the tournament at the AO a few years ago. More interestingly, Federer's service speed has not significantly increased over his career whereas Williams has increased hers by a good 20kph since her 20's - as well as her groundstroke power. All perfectly natural of course.
I am reading between the lines here Armstronglivs, but I sense that aging has rendered you impotent. Have you tried any pharmaceuticals that might help?
Did she crash out in straights to a relative nobody?

Reading of any sort is not likely to be one of your skills. But you're welcome to share your experience of impotence.

Chris Everett was 32 when she won her last major and Steffi Graf was 30. How many tournaments have you won since the Australian Open in 2017?
