The poster said that Americans didn't know geography or politics outside the country. So what? I don't care about the politics in Belgium and why should I? It doesn't affect me. My point was how much knowledge of cultures outside a society's national border is a bad metric to use for how insular a society is because it gives an unfair advantage to people from small countries. I used the Dutch knowledge of English culture as an example and it spiraled from there.
I agree that cultural differences between regions of the USA are smaller than cultural differences between European countries. Though I think globalization is very quickly making that less and less true.

OK so Americans have invaded what? Vietnam? Afghanistan? That's the culture you're complaining that we don't know about? When did we invade bastions of culture?

Most Europeans live in countries about the size of Western US states. You seem to struggle with simple mathematical concepts.
Most Europeans live in countries that would rank at least top 6 in the US in size if they were states.
