Bill Sr. has something to say on everything...sometimes he makes sense, sometimes not. In this case, he is dead wrong. His facts get a little skewed whenever he (or Marsha) talk about issues from the Martin Smith period.

I know the coach you speak of and he is quite open about the drug use that he saw. gravel-voice coach even claims to have seen AS cranking drugs into his system.

Anonymous coach and Nike OP coach witness AS giving GR PED in the days leading to 28.15 10K, OP coach says this goes on with other athletes.

AS and NIke send out nasty legal threats to both. OP coach leaves OP early last week.

I have heard the RW piece on AS and GR referred to as fluff by omission. While the RW article suggests disfunction of the highest order, the real controversy has yet to hit the fan.

And you were too stupid to read what was written. The Rupp's kept the canceled checks in order to have their documentation in order for the NCAA.

Here is what it really was, it was a rote exercise in following through...by the letter of the law, what the NCAA required.

Could you say, you know somewhere down the line they will get back all the money they paid out of Galen was successful as an international class runner? Yeah. This is a once in a life time type occurance. Former marathon studd from Oregon, 20 years later discovers a local kid with world class potential, coaches him. That coach happens to work for the biggest sportings good corporation in the world. In short, deal with it people, roll with it, it is unlikely to happen again, Alberto got luck, like Webb's coach got lucky, and found a rising start, and he has been trying all along to steward that talent to the most secure success.

In the end it is all about guiding success of athletes in a sport that mostly people no longer car about in this nation.

WE OUGHT TO GET OUT OLD SCHOOL EMOTIONSL TAILS OUT OF OUR ASSES AND LOOK FOR WAYS TO STEP OUT OF OUR PREJUDICED OPINIONS AND SUPPORT THE ACTUAL...........RUNNERS.

Sounds very realistic and believable.

However, Alberto's shortcoming is that he will be passionately, devotedly, passionately supportive of athletes with real elite potential, especially in his charge. Our sport is the better for it.

I will come out of the closet, so to speak and tell you that imho Dellinger should have been run out to emiritus status right after the gift of J, Cruz kissed his career. Dellinger was a jock, fratboy, who was no where near the measure of Bowerman. Dellinger was a very nice, not too smart man, who did the best he could. and whom benifitted from the Prefontaine halo as long as he could. Listen , Dellinger meant well, but he had no clue that he was not half the man that Bowerman was, and Dellingers mellow ego led him to believe he knew better. Bowerman's thing was to get the best out of the whole squad. Dellingers elitest thing was to get the best out of the undeniable stars who could and would survive and succeed under almost any over training punishing approach.
