And doping isn't "rampant" in Kenya? Do you read the news? So doping accusations are by definition racist. Probably gender-biased, too, because women also get accused on these threads. Maybe because the white athletes don't run for other countries nearly as much. When they do, they always get mentioned, e.g. Torrance, Pappas.

Ordinarily there are about as many spots on US teams as there are US athletes with the standard. Sometimes more. In Kenya there are tons of runners with the standard competing for only 3 or 4 spots, so there is a high athletic incentive to emigrate (which is not an easy thing to do!) in addition to economic factors.

If you're going to blame anyone for this, blame the olympic-addled, archaic structure of track. Champs should be like DL meets with no national quotas.
