This would be my feel. Give Rupp Berlin and he can run probably something in 2:04:xx, but 2:03:xx would definitely be a shocker.

General sketchiness of NOP? You started off ok, but you lose a lot of credibility when talking about shadiness at NOP but completely ignoring the elephant in the room - E.Africa. There is no contest in sketchiness.
I don't think he was saying that NOP is sketchier than East Africa. I took it as comparing Shorter to Rupp, Shorter wasn't closely tied to a group with a sketchy history around doping or pushing the boundaries of legality. But I think 3hr makes a strong argument and acknowledges that times aren't necessarily the best indicator.
Like, Paavo Nurmi was an absolute badass in his day, but looking solely at times, college guys could smash him. Looking at achievement is a better metric, but even then there are issues like 3hr acknowledges

Doesn't dna evidence also point to the fact that the "mongoloid" tribes that came across the Bering Strait were already interbred with caucasians? I don't think they were pure mongoloids. Therefore, I believe Europeans should get at least partial claim on even the Siberian First theory.

Galen Rupp fans are enjoying this. He ran a very good race. I like his leg speed efficiency. he looked fresh, hope is not sick & wish him a speedy recovery.
I think he would want to have another one in Europe in September/October since he ran so well. Can the American races pay more than Berlin Marathon perhaps, for him?
I personal think that it would be very interesting to see him race Berlin Marathon & Eliud Kipchoge run New York City Marathon. Galen Rupp going for a 2:04 pace in Berlin? ☺
Rupp has to be a medal favorite for Olympics in Tokyo. Kipchoge will have a lot of marathons in his legs by then but of course only 35 and very hard to beat. Farah will be 37 so maybe on a downside in career. In a non paced race Rupp , Farah and of course Kipchoge are all excellent. Rupp is as tough as anyone I have seen in the last 5K. He just destroyed a 2:04 marathoner in the last couple Km.
