Geb over Tergat in 2000 always sticks out in my mind. I can think of no one who seemingly deserved to win a race more, only to have it snatched away by otherworldly talent. If you factor in the comparative advantage Tergat almost certainly had in length of stride, along with the fact that he was in no way fading, Geb’s win is all the more sensational.
