I know the 1200s are usually underwhelming at nationals, but pretty lackluster run by McGorty there. I was waiting for him to blow it open, but it never happened.
pretty lame from Kerr....he's run fast enough that he could have won....really don't like to see someone just not try because it won't be easy to win....

I made the same mistake mistake of sleeping on Virginia tech in the prediction contest... figured they would save Joseph and Gourley, or Gourley at least. Stanford not making the podium surprises me

Right? Even if not the win, he could have snagged all-american status for his teammates. Super lame to just completely give up when in 3rd/4th place with 1k to go.
That 800 leg broke it open for VT but full credit to gourley for doing exactly what you should do when you have a big lead in the relay. Go out at a reasonable pace and don't let anyone back into it, no sense letting everyone back into it.

Knowing (or not knowing) what year the women's DMR was introduced, which also happens to be the year that women's championships were introduced generally, is very relevant to my viewing of the women's DMR right now

Well, good finish to Day 1. Enjoyed all the distance races except that dud in the men's 5000m. Wonder how Schweizer will approach the 3000m.
I certainly wouldn't want someone nitpicking me when I do my commentary of meets but I can't help myself. At the end of the women's DMR, Larry R: “Another near success for victory for Stanford.”
