The Twins pulled off an 8-5 triple play against the White Sox yesterday. First time in MLB history. That's why some people like watching baseball. You never know what you might witness that has never happened before. Most other major sports don't have that kind of uncertainty.

Women's Olympic Softball last summer was more watchable than MLB. They were serious about pace of play. Went so far as if the catcher was batting and reached base she was replaced with a pinch runner so the catcher could put on her equipment and be ready to get back out onto the field immediately after her team's 3rd out.
Because the world needed a sport where you can be fat, lazy, chew skoal, and have no work ethic and still be good. Merica.
That is such a BS take on so many levels.
I agree. Baseball requires a lot of skill and draws on many different skill sets. A lot of athleticism is required to be a good baseball player.
I always liked playing baseball but don’t necessarily like to watch it on television. A lot of sports that I like to participate in I don’t necessarily like to watch. Baseball, softball, volleyball, golf, bowling, and cycling are all sports that I like to play but don’t necessarily enjoy watching. People also watch corn hole on TV. Why? (I can’t stand the name “corn hole.” We always call it “bags.”)
Baseball is not my cup of tea but I can see where people develop a keen interest in the strategies in the game.
I do think the game is unduly slow and this is hardly to news to those than run MLB. I recall going to Wrigley Field in 1969 and enjoying the game as a 9 year old. I couldn't imagine doing that today.
My suite mate in college was a department head in physics at a top university and one of his interests in college was the physics of hitting a baseball. He persuaded me that hitting a baseball is indeed really difficult, and while many of the players are indeed good athletes. they also possess that special skill to hit a ball, particularly breaking balls. It is no easy game.
Still the game is not my thing. I enjoyed the softball world series this year - maybe 7 innings makes a difference.

You’re commenting about sports you seem to know little about. In women’s fast-pitch softball, stealing bases is uncommon, no leading off from the bag is allowed and a base runner can’t start running until the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand. In addition, in women’s softball it’s 84 feet from catcher to 2nd compared 127 feet for MLB. An MLB pinch runner inserted to speed up the game could score the deciding run.
I've never seen a baseball or softball game. I will say that the most boring sport I've ever watched is snooker. It's weird that it's classed as a sport - for me it's more of a game. I just can't watch it. Don't find it exciting. But I've played pool and really enjoyed that.
Track can be boring to watch if you don't know anything about any of the athletes involved and not much happens in the race. I remember being in Cyprus and watching a men's track 10K in a bar with a friend. She said 'they're just running - nothing is happening' and unfortunately I could see her point.

I will be completely honest here. Golf is much more exciting than baseball to me.
You’re in the minority of LRers that phrases something as an opinion and not a fact.
I’m guessing you don’t much about pitch selection and strengths and weaknesses of pitchers and batters. If you’re just waiting for someone to hit the ball, it’s pretty boring.
Baseball got greedy and made too many games and never adapted to modern tech, even running has high speed cameras and new events, that’s why baseball is boring. It’s old, drawn out and basic.
Running is getting better but needs cool events like mountain running to pick up.
I’m a huge sports fan, can watch every major championship internationally and be engaged, From nfl, nhl, badminton, soccer, Even triathlon. but man baseball is boring, even tried drinking and watching it.... would rather watch darts. it’s gotta be social conditioning
