BREAKING: Mary Cain leaves Oregon Project

I saw her race at the Mayor's Cup this weekend and she was still hanging around after the men's race to talk to some fans. She was looking pretty fit, but more importantly she was looking happy and excited to have run a good race. I'm no expert on her life but I suspect she'loves be a lot faster now that she's not miserable and over worked.

Mary's body changed when she became a woman. It happens. She may never regain the same speed she had as a teenager, but she can still have a good career and a great life. I wish her all the best.

I'm rooting for Mary on the track and, more importantly, in life. She's displayed more courage than most of us by being on public display and dealing with the criticism at such a young age.

Alexa Efraimson ran 2:00.99 this year, made the finals at the US Olympic Trials in the 1500m and missed making the Olympic Team by 1.8 seconds. Not bad for a 19 year old. Yes, depressed and wishing she had never run, because she got slower each year. Never telling a sole that she had ever run. That sounds like a good plan. At least she would have had fun. Send me more meds.

She can get back to the level she was at. She just made some huge life changes (moving to Portland) and form changes and got sidetracked for a bit. Once she manages to recalibrate mentally, the physical part will easily come back.

Sadly the body is gone. It happens to almost every person, never mind just girls.

Still, it's hard to believe it happened while training hard unless there was some lay-off where it sneaked up on her.
