Therapeutic Use Exemption is a TUE.

Prednisone for asthma flares is usually taken over a few weeks with a taper so as not to block the bodies feedback loop to produce thyroid, adrenal, and gonadal steroids.

Any exogenous steroids: cortisone, methylprednisolone, etc. can suppress TSH and therefore T3 and T4 production.

It's easy to see why they are now speaking out which could also be used against them. Despite adam/kara leaving they were still Nike athletes and under umbrella of the swoosh....gotta make a living and support the family while biting your tongue. Now that they and fleshman are away and onto their own thing they may be able to breathe easier on the $ front and not depend on Nike (although if they want Nike can certainly ruin them) and can speak their real mind.

Salazar trashing magness and using a RW article as evidence is a joke....that magazine sucks and is just a puff piece catering to beginning runners. If magbess dropped science knowledge it would have readers dropping the mag(even more so than normal) and buying Shape more prevalantlly. Of course years back under the Nike banner and while still employed by the swoosh they will smile for the writer and say what they think people want to hear.

Alberto calling Adam out on his behaviour is pretty great....have we forgotten AlSal's tirade at Indoors this year? Adam doing his thing is likely simlar to when Webb had his outbursts at the end of his career when he just couldn't get it going.

AlSal is like a sleezy banker playing on the fence of illegal/legal and always looking at technicalities. He trains in international waters. Of course he's documented because anyone with half a brain would cover their ass after the lance debacle but Epstein would know that if you are going to come after Nike you better do it.

There are posts almost 3 yrs old reharding this lingering on the message board and people can suss out who is legit on this board and there is definitely more to come. Each side is slowly laying their hands down and being strategic.

Not convincing. At all. I'll write more later, but, for starters:

1. He only asserts those things about Magness's performance. In an otherwise *seemingly* well-documented statement, the lack of evidence in this section is noteworthy. Salazar's statement here also contradicts contemporaneous reports. And Salazar's accusation about Magness affair with an athlete are the most head-scratching of the lot. If Magness was that sort of person, why would Salazar work to get him another job? Why stay quiet about it? You fire the guy and let the world know why.

2. Why is it that only Salazar pushed his body so hard that now he requires a medicine chest full of drugs to stay alive? If you think that other top athletes weren't training that hard, you're crazy.

3. That Goucher loved him at the time is not in dispute. (part of... ) an email from her to him is evidence of exactly nothing. Nor does it add anything to the conversation. Kara said the same thing in her interview with the BBC.

4. Salazar admits to using testoboost and alpha male and these other substances on athletes - including, I guess, a teenage Galen. Does that seem in the spirit of clean sport? Of good sense?? Regardless of whether these substances are banned, I still think that this borders on child abuse.

5. There are 17 people - or more - who have gone to USADA or WADA with concerns. Is this true about any other coach or program?? If their all making it up because they have a vendetta against Salazar, then, wow.... that's almost as bad as them being right. Salazar has a lot of moxy to say that Magness couldn't build rapport with his athletes, given that so many of them are trying to destroy Al now. Just wow...

6. I might be wrong about this we'll see - but I don't think it was Brown that told Kara not to take the Cytomel. I think Salazar knows this. The letter from Brown ( a guy in Houston is her endocronolgist?!??) is an attempt at misdirection.

7. The number of sock puppets on the board lately is telling. Nike/Alberto is scared.

Alberto works like the mob, through intimidation. He did it at USAs, he's doing it now. Don't kid yourself, that entire statement was well crafted and the use of certain words instead of others was intentional. The guy has pushed the boundaries for years, and finally when everyone starts calling him on it, he does what any bully and cheater does, get personal and try to scream louder.

Thyroid issues would have established itself as a pattern in human performance a long time ago if it were a real thing.

Al Salazar has done another poor job at rebutting the allegations. But, none of it will get him sanctioned. He knows it. He knows the rules and runs a doping program within the rules.

Ideally, the level of doping permitted in elite IOC athletics becomes a broader topic, including Testosterone abuse. Al Sal will still be at NOP, doping within the rules.

Goucher is significantly discredited regarding the thyroid meds and her claims about the IV TUE.

There are still unanswered questions. There are still questions about gaming the TUE process to some degree. I'll even admit there are still some questions about androgel, but for the most part Salazar did a good job of objectively refuting a lot of what Magness said. Why you can't at least admit that is beyond me.

Subclinical hypothyroidism is significantly more common. According to the Mayo clinic it appears in somewhere between 4-8% of the population. There is no reason that I know of to believe that it would be less common in elite athletes.

I think we can give Salazar a tentative pass for this one.
