Yes Let's wonder if that REALLY HAPPENED. Where's the proof? If I said the former assistant coach hooked up with a student athlete while she was coaching at Toledo would people believe that? I slander anyone and from the likes of this deadspin article.. nothing is the truth. PEOPLE you can't always believe what you read. Especially from an article written by Doug Brown.

Also, have any of these girls come forward and used there names? Where is the proof. Deadspin's only source of information is Emma Kertez herself and maybe of a few of her "best" friends.

Also, I have no dog in this fight. I know none of the facts or people involved in this. I'm strictly a casual observer of a colleague of sorts that I didn't know. But whether right or wrong, Kevin Hadsell will be just fine. He may have to coach at a small school/Division for a couple years, accept this setback and patiently work his way back up...but these things are pretty easy to recover from in the coaching world the way it exists. You people think that an article on Deadspin and anonymous message board posts are enough to "end this guys career?" Please. Even with the local Toledo paper article... I'm not saying it's right necessarily (it appears as though this guy probably shouldn't be coaching again despite a lot of half-truths out there), I'm just saying it like it is. Now, if the university itself were to come out and admit this, it may take Kevin a couple extra years to work his way back up, but we'll be seeing him again soon enough, just in a different conference and likely different part of the country. Mark my words, he's connected enough that someone will hire him by next xc season.

It was difficult to respond to you because your post was such a mess, organizationally-speaking, but let me lay it out for you: someone close to the situation but not the coach or athlete wouldn't have access to the alleged "delted" private text messages between Coach Hadsell and Emma Kertesz. That poster either was making that up OR would have to be Emma Kertesz, Coach Hadsell, or perhaps one or two of the other girls Hadsell was coaching/screwing that are still involved with the program.

Again, some random guy on the team wouldn't have those text messages. So this person is claiming to have "knowledge of the program" and to have read some alleged "deleted" text messages that he or she is saying were used to spin the situation. The only way that could be true is what I outlined above. And even if that poster IS the coach, athlete, or Ari Fisher/Ari Fisher's mom -- well, they could still be making it up.

And congrats on your quick wit and clever powers of debate. I only wish I had the intelligence to come up with a persuasive point like suggesting I rename myself "The Voice of Tard." I think a round of applause is due here.

Also, the truth is going to come out very soon. I promise you that. It won't be so funny then.

I originally posted that the drunk driving charge was the most serious, and terms for dismissal. I guess I should have taken the allegation with a grain of salt. The Deadspin article seems pretty fanciful, but for some reason I took the drunk driving charge as fact. Guess we will see if the truth comes out.

Thanks for the post. Feel free to take it on yourself. Seems like a great idea but one that is terribly time intensive and one that is fraught with some legal liabilities.

A big problem with modern society is people are always allowed to resign quietly so nothing comes out. Rumors sometimes are posted on LRC and then we are put in a bind. On the one hand, you want to leave them up so new ADs might be aware of them. But in my mind if an AD is dumb enough to hire a coach who resigns mid-season without some SERIOUS questions, then the AD deserves what he or she gets (although the kids do not).

I just don't think it's practical. I mean wouldn't it be useful to have a database of all sexual harrassers at workplaces as well. They don't exist??

Email me if there is a way it could be done without getting sued or having to have a fulltime person do it.

Coach Hadsell and Coach Vergote built an unbelievable program at UT. The 2012 Mac Champ team beat the rest of the MAC teams put together. None of the girls on that team had anything to do with the current situation. MANY girls have gone through the program and benefited from it in many ways and are now well-adjusted, well-educated, contributing members of our society.

Coach Hadsell was wrong, plain and simple, and he lost his job over it. Just don't fool yourself that this sort of thing does not happern throughout our society: in politics, in pro sports, in business and certainly in the factory. Sex is a very powerful thing and has contibuted to the downfall of many men and women. It has been in history and will continue to be in the future.

My wish is that this situation does not cloud the many accomplishments the program has achieved. There are many members of the current team and past teams that worked their butts off for the program to be successful. Coach Hadsell and Coach Vergote did a lot of neat things in the program to make better people that had awesome experiences.

There are many parents of current and past athletes that are VERY proud of their sons and daughters for their accomplishments on and OFF the track and CC course. The success of the program speaks for itself and I am sure that is will continue to be successful. Hadsell was WRONG and he has paid the price-can we all just move on!?!
