USATF is in the midst of creating a apprenticeship program with the NOP.
Young coaches will spent 3 years apprenticing their master coach (Salazar) to learn the STP (Salazar Training Plan)
After, they'll be placed into key NCAA schools and elite training groups, replacing coaches unwilling to adopt to the new ways.
USATF has set a goal of 15 STP apprenticed coaches by 2016 and hopes to expand to 75 by 2025.
The program aims to have upwards of 50 athletes achieving 10,000m results under 26:45 and no less than 5 athletes under 26:00.

But maybe Rupp is fast, I'm thinking the last lap of the Trials 5000, and the last lap of the Olympic 10. That was strength at work, but the man certainly picked up the pace.
Well I can see what is going to happen in the not so distant future. There are going to be no doping rules.
Also I feel certain right now that lance armstrong has helped salazar's athletes dope without getting caught and Salazar has helped lance in the past with this running form as well.

No. Even if sport is not clean, the majority of the public thinks it is. I'm hoping the biological passport will help.

eat properly - not quack vegetarian vegan diets - nor macdonals and pizza - good protein - good fats

cross train - properly
Do you honestly believe that Rupp Dopes? Is it that hard to believe that someone can work hard for what they earn and be completely legit? The kid ran sub 14 for 5k in HS. He has been working closely with Salazar and professionals for nearly a decade. Why jump to the conclusion that he is cheating? If anything, he is approaching the standards of people like Lagat and other well know runners. Rupp has range. We should all be excited for him and acknowledge his accomplishments. He's not cocky about it as far as I can tell. He even ran a workout on a treadmill after his great performance. I see humility. I see someone who is willing to sacrifice to be the best. Someone who truly loves what they do.
My god. Has anyone improved as gradual as Rupp? If you are going to butcher him for a quick improvement, then everyone is fair game. He was fast in HS, a little faster in college and has progressed over many years now as a pro.
Look a little deeper at how they are training. Many of these things have been ignored (especially by North Americans) for years.
1. Increasing your weekly volume with extra non-running cardio training
2. Speed is very important for distance runners. This is something that will be questioned - especially from the (Lydiard / Cardio is the only important thing advocates.
3. Weight training - For years the aerobic first or aerobic only advocates have complained that so many runners are on steroids (which help with hypertrophy) yet can't figure out that strength training might be valuable.
4. Type of weight training - Those distance runners that did weight train did it in such a wimpy and wrong manner (huge reps rather than huge weights) that it was pretty much useless.
5. Dynamic flexibility and plyometrics - ignored by most distance runners
6. The great use of properly place aerobic intervals, fartleks, etc to increase aerobic development.
7. Spending all year (rather than just the last 6 weeks before a meet) to work on speed.
8. Technique - In the past, distance runners felt technique was useless, but Salazar has quickly figured out that is just as important, or maybe more, than it is for sprinters.
9. North American distance runners have only recently used altitude to their advantage.
So rather than yell "PED" everytime someone runs fast, take a close look at what is going on.

Wouldn't someone be more skeptical of a 9.58 or a 1500 in 3:26:00 or a 3000 in 7:20?
Why is a guy running very good times raising such concern? If Rupp goes 12:40 and 26:19, II might be a different story. Who knows if Rupp is clean but, really, it's not like he is doing something that has not been done before.
Lance Armstrong : Rupp is not really correct. Armstrong had some of the best tour performances ever. It's more appropriate to compare him to Bolt, Micheal Johnson, El G or KB. I am not saying their performance were dirty but, since theywere the best ever, it's more interesting.
Dead on. What a duck is ignoring because it is not defendable is how Alberto WELCOMED Lance Armstrong to train with and hang out in Portland for much of the past 4 years (at least). Everyone involved in the sport knew at least 4 years ago that LA was dirty beyond reasonable doubt. Alberto's past with a banned Mary Slaney and his own well known drug usage in the running community supported by AW is the reason Rupp can't catch any breaks. If Alberto didn't want to attract all this unwanted heat on Rupp and Farah and others in NOP then he never should have associated with Lance.
As one poster said that has drawn scant response is that elite athletes like Galen should release their offial TUE release forms for public viewing.
a duck you state that those that haven't witnessed the work that NOP guys like Galen have done shouldn't cast them off as dirty well I have witnessed them and dozens of other elites world-wide and I am super impressed by the effort and the coaching done by Alberto but its because of all that that I have doubts. I want to believe NOP is clean but until they are much more transparent there is going to be tremendous doubt. That's why athletes like Galen have to be open and transparent, not because they themselves have crossed the line but to prove to the public that they are clean. Sad reality of having to overcome what past generations have done to our sport.
False postings of guilt are unfair to clean athletes but crying foul when questionable associations such as the one between Salazar and Armstrong take place. Steve Magness voiced this as one from the inner circle so its only going to be made much worse and louder by those on the outside looking in.

Most distance coaches I talk to think Salazar's crazy for doing the things you mentioned. But it all just seems common sense if when you're not coming from a distance running background.
Also interesting to speculate about who his influences were and who he acquired the knowledge from for points #2, 7, and 8.
#8 came from Al Sals dissatisfaction with his own technique.

I think most folks believe at least 2 of those you listed are doped if not all 3. We all want to believe them when they happen but history has shown its unlikely. I think Komen is the most likely to be clean amongst those but even that is tough to say considering the time period it was set in.

Why do you think Komen is most likely clean? Is he any different than others?
Its a total joke.... IAAF dont care about it as long as sponsorship fills their boots so however much we hate whats happening they should lmost consider legalising it rather than the cycling like sham we have right now , you can buy EPO in Nairobi everyone knows where and even when it has been flagged up the dealers are still dealing and the athletes hiding when they think testers are about and a bunch of agents are all hollier than thou and lying to us all , they even told me if i didnt take it i wouldnt make it .
