I think that Ma never used weights for his runners. It would be interesting if you can confirm this from your experience with the Chinese coaches.

Okay, obviously Wang was a drug cheat but the biggest reason for her 10k time is that the Chinese were using yards instead of meters so she actually ran 9144 meters!

Sorry to revive this thread again but I was looking at the Chinese national records. One men's result shows up as surprisingly good compared to others: 8:08 for the steeple...also from a Chinese national games

No,not in 1993,when she ran those amazing times at 10'000,3'000 and 1500 metres.However i believe she won her 1996 olympic gold medal,in the 5'000 metres,clean.She also got silver in the 10'000,and her times of close to 31 minutes in the 10k,and 15 minutes in the 5k,suggest to me,that she was drug free,by then.She was nowhere near as fast,but still won,when it mattered.She had real talent.
