I was surprised that they went to Pre-nats at all. It seemed a bit cocky/presumptuous in such a deep region that has routinely had big surprises at regionals. I hope NE does get 5 bids as I think there are 5 very good teams in the region this year, but we anything can happen in November.

Bates: 1-5 of 21, 1-7 44 seconds off of a 2559 on a tough course
Williams: 1-5 of 26, 1-7 30 seconds off of a 2620 on a even tougher course
MIT: 1-5 of 1:06 off a 25:26. 1-7 almost 2 minutes on a course that is known for being very fast
Bates put their 5th ahead of MITs 5th and Williams was only 10 seconds off. Unless Oskosh was running incredibly slow for some reason Williams and Bates both showed they are better then MIT by a lot

Glad to see MIT finally making some excuses... I don't care how slowly it ran which looks to be about less than a minute, MIT ran terribly and has NO excuse. Their 1-5 spread is atrocious and don't even get me started on their 1-7. It was windy... MIT had the wind blocked by the huge pack infront of them... what else is their to know other than they shit the bed.

i doubt that was an MIT runner making an excuse, they don't even have facebook accounts so i doubt they're roaming the letsrun boards... remember that they did little to nothing before regionals last year and then they came to play. while they surely didn't help NE as a whole, I wouldn't count them out

Looking at the all NE results, the top 7 not from Midd, MIT, Tufts, or Williams were, in order:
Mike Leduc (Conn)
Ryan O'Connell (Springfield)
Kevin Hoyt (Keene)
Nick Saba (Bowdoin)
Skyler Cummins (Wesleyan)
Anthony Salvucci (Springfield)
Andrew Erskine (Amherst)
Though I think its obvious that someone like Horowtiz would leap frog a couple of those guys. Maybe Chris Brown of Brandeis as well? Flat course at Bowdoin will definitely favor more of a miler/1500 type like him.

While he sucked it up real hard at regionals last year, and hasn't met too much competition this year, Alex Gomes of Salem State is undefeated within D3 this season. And he did beat Hannan and Dilts at Codfish, though it was on a slower day.
Keep an eye on John Vallo; USM also. Placed 4th @ ME State Champ's on hilly, muddy course. Also placed 6th earlier in year @ Bowdoin Invit.

As far as NESCACs goes, I really hate to say that I think Williams might actually be my favorite going into it. I don't really have any evidence to substantiate this claim, but I think it is more than likely. It'll be interesting though, as I think the only runners in the entire meet who will be a factor in team scoring and have run the course before are koima and raduazo.
