The goal isn't to minimize gun deaths. The goal is to preserve individual rights, which includes the right to gun ownership. The most violent societies in the world existed long before guns entered the scene - they were violent because they didn't respect each other's rights. Logic and reason didn't go anywhere in those days, so the only way to solve problems was with violence. Violence prevails to the extent that individual rights are not respected. Violating the individual's right to own a gun will make things worse in the US, not better.

Canada is a free country. Free healthcare no matter how rich you are. We allow communists to run for office here - not allowed in the free US.

Americans need to get over the freedom dillussion they are under. We are mostly all free in the Western world and largely in the East (other than China and a few odd countries that are left).

Civil rights are stomped on more in the US than most other countries in the West. The right to get shot by any madman is not a very admirable civil right.

well actually it said on CNN the shooter had posted he was worried about the US currency like Glenn Beck and right wing talk radio always preaches about. He was influenced by hate and this is what happens. Her husband was an astronaut for Christ's sake. I hope people wake up about this hate radio talk all over the country.
