NO, NO, NO, the fact that I expect anybody to be biased about themselves is not tantamount to being reasonable, as humans are irrational creatures at their core. Maybe these folks just thought that "reasonable" meant that there was a reasonable explanation for what he said. And if that's the case, they are not morons but simply folks that took the meaning of a single word to be slightly different from the meaning that you ascribed to it.

The people I have referred to as morons are, to be precise, those that believe that Solinsky has a chance to set the world record at 10,000 meters. It has NOTHING to do with what Solinsky thinks. I expect him to show confidence and have goals. It is clear that Solinsky is back to saying he does not run for time, so he is now out of the equation...If I tell you that the guy down the street panhandling thinks of himself as a deity, there might be a reasonable explanation for his belief (such as mental illness), but many others who might believe him could be fairly labeled as morons. Got it?

Solinsky breaks 27 by what, a half a second, and now he's thinking world record. If he ran 26:45, more than half you guys would be shocked beyond belief.

The problem is you are all too happy that an American is talking this way but you lack the mind to realize that although not impossible because someone has done it, it is more than likely highly improbable.

As others have said, he misspoke so give it a rest already. Does he have the right to dream and talk, who doesn't? Is it realistic now that he dipped under 27, hell no! Absolutely. Chris has the right to dream, but so does Rupp and all the other guys not too far behind him. Good point: Rupp is 10 seconds behind, so he'll be shooting for a sub 26:30 next year? Not likely folks. As been said on this thread a jillion times, be realistic. Saying it and even coming remotely close are 2 completely different things. I say keep dreaming Chris, but let's see you break 26:50 first, fair enough?
