perhaps there was some unannounced money for the "fuel-belt toting, gu slurping, gallowaddling" division? just a thought.

Apparently you are new to the sport and have not heard that the IOC has rules, IAAF, AIMS, RRCA and every nation
that competes in International Athletics has a national governing body and for America that is USATF.
Those rules apply to every runner. You can't opt out and say, "Oh, I didn't know." Sisay in his TV interview, said he knew the rules and denied doing anything wrong and acted all upset when the eyewitnesses described what they had done and what had been seen.
http://www.asiorders.com/view_user_event_video.asp?EVENTID=60089&BIB=9874Honolulu is a unique marathon because the first two hours are run in the dark (5:00am to 7:00am). How many other U.S. marathons could Gebre have run 2:32 and collected forty thousand dollars? L.A. has a separate start for women, same with Boston and NYC.
What they did was wrong and the race officials at Honolulu bent over backwards to help them, "enable" them and if there are people who know the rules and are concerned about the pattern of abuse that has been seen from these two, well, we are going to keep on pointing out that
the rules matter, they apply to everyone. Gebre and Sisay can learn from these experiences and never allow this
conduct to happen again or they can continue doing what they are doing and all you professional victims with more hatred than common sense can continue to scream racism
to try to obscure the facts and take the spotlight off those who cheated.
Remember, Honolulu had an assigned pacer who ran with Gebre, but since Gebre was running a 2:25 marathon pace through 10km Kaori Yoshida backed off.
Found the answer to the religion question, his Facebook page says "Jesus is my Lord, my Strength and my SAVIOR!! If you agree, press like!!!"
For followers of the prophet Mohammad that makes him an infidel, corrupted by western ways.
Still sponsored by Nike? She was wearing Adidas shoes in Honolulu.
A final question...is she or isn't she?
http://www.esmintl.com/athleteDetails.asp?id=174Some say she is represented by Hussein Makke others say she is without manager or coach.
All you supporters of her forgot to wish her a Happy Birthday! last week as she turned 23. (23/12/1987)
We wish them the best in 2011, but there's a saying in America that may apply in this situation..."You can't fix stupid."

Dave, thanks for the classy and well-informed response.
Has any woman broken 2:20 in a women-only marathon?
yes radcliffe has the woman only marathon record when london ran the woman about 30 minutes before the men, radcliffes record for a woman only marathon is 2:17.42
i should have added in the womens only marathon where radcliffe ran 2:17.42 catherine ndereba was second in 2:19.55
so at least 2 of the 9 sub 2:20 marathoners have done it.
