Yes you Had it right the first time, Hudson trained him POORLY, that white boy needed some speed. THAT is why the white runners, walk/jog the HELL out of there.

You can't sustain your anaerobic threshold for 2 hours, so I think aerobic threshold is more accurate.
True, but then help me understand aerobic threshold? I thought aerobic threshold was ~65% of max HR or is it 65% of vvo2 max? If so, is it really aerobic threshold running sub 2:08 pace for 20 miles?

Capriotti felt threatened by Rowe, pure and simple. Cap enjoys the glamour of his job and hopes to keep it for a while, despite not being very good at it. Can't have some young hungry fast-tracker knock you from the throne.
So, under the pretense of 'cost-cutting moves due to these difficult economic conditions' Rowe was f***ed in the ass while they somehow manage to find the money to keep on superstars like Llewellyn Starks (of Brawl on the Mall: Indy 2006 fame).
Thanks for the explanation. It's too bad, Rowe seems like a good guy. I couldn't figured out while others that came to Nike after Rowe still had a job, but your explanation of Capriotti feeling threatened makes sense. Do you know where Rowe ended up?

It was much more than that with Rowe...He dug his own grave.

What causes calf problems? Or more specifically, what caused Dathan's calf problems?
The genesis was actually the Trials marathon. Over the closing stages in Central Park, Ritzenhein had some cramping in his calves. Considering the situation, he couldn't really stop, and some muscular damage was incurred. In Beijing cramping happened again, to a much greater degree, causing a greater degree of damage. Things flared up again in the final preparations for London. Kind of a vicious cycle.

He's really not, makes a good show of it though with the backwards hat, high fives, etc. Just less of a prick than everyone else over there.
Not sure what he's up to now.

Way to elaborate.
Man, everyone just lit my a$$ up on this thread. No love for the K-man. I must be getting old and out of touch.
I don't ever want to disparage speedwork because that is essential as well. But I remember the 90's and everyone whining that exceeding 100 mpw would lead to burn out and injury. Yet, look at all the mileage the Kenyans and Ethiopians are laying down. Look at what Paula has done.
Vindication is sweet.
Out.

lol - happens to me all the time.

I jumped on Hudson's comments because I have been battling calf problems myself now for months. The darn muscle just takes forever to heal. It is an exercise in patience. I'd sure like to be rewarded with a mid-27 10K or a 12:56 5K, especially since my PR's are in another universe from those.
My calves were seizing terribly for awhile about 15 years ago, which was very frustrating as I was in good shape but not able to train. I tried all kinds of loosening exercise, massages, epson salts, magnesium, potassium, different shoes and nothing seemed to work. I would be running along well and all of a sudden they would seize, right in the middle of the soleus. One would seize then the other would seize right after that. It got so bad they would seize right after starting running, no matter how long I had rested.
Out of frustration I cut the heels off my running shoes, and glued on heel sized blocks of wood. The next day I went for a 2 hour run with friends, especting to run a few blocks, if that, and walk back. I had told them this in advance. Much to my surprise, there was no problem at all with my calves. I took off ahead of them to the turn around, and caught up coming back. Someone said, "what is that click click clicking sound?" I said, oh I glued some wood on my heels. :) They must have thought it was a metronome (maybe I should have said that).
After that I replaced my heels with HARD rubber heels and never had any more problems with my calves.
I am convinced that the cause of most calf problems is soft rubber in the heels.
Asswhite, go do some speed dills down hill. We all know, a white runner can't win with out speeddddddddd!!!!!!
fart bomb america supports kilgore.
fart bomb america, out.
T&FN reported Bekele runs 150 KILOMETERS/week, not 150 miles. Hudson's confused.

Impossible, that's never happened before!
bump. Where is Hudson now that Ritz is nice and comfy with Salazar?
A few pages back people kept talking about "badger miles." Can someone explain this for me? Pardon my ignorance.
beaver miles are miles that salazar makes his pretty boys run. they are like beer miles, but instead of putting down beer, you spray on cologne and wear effeminate clothing--collared tatersall shirt, dockers shorts, topsiders and whatnot. you have to run them with your head held high or else they don't count.
you forgot black socks
