Yes, take it down!!. They have always been very arrogant on their website. (Plus, they can't spell for shit or write coherently.)

I would say that it is safe to say that every D2, D3 or NAIA athlete that accomplished big things in the sport, had dreams well beyond college nationals.

You know a lot about rowing, eh?
plenty. enough to know multiple people who have joined D1 programs just because they couldn't cut it in their main sport.
Also enough to know that most of the girls in that sport cannot seem to peel their athletic apparel (issue gear, whatever...) off at any time of the day.
i'm not saying rowing isn't tough, but comparing D1 rowing to running is meaningless.
it's surprising to me that wejo hasn't just taken down his dumb comment on the front page. i don't think it's offensive, but it's immature.
I ran DII and didn't find it totally offensive. However, I would say it's in very poor taste. Using the term "baby" to describe a national competition on any level isn't exactly flattering.
Perhaps Wejo didn't have any ulterior motives and it was a slip-up, would it be so hard just to have a DII and DIII section on the front page without using any adjectives to describe them?
I think people are more offended because they thought Wejo was above this kind of thing. Most on this site truly admire Wejo for being a runner who didn’t have stellar credentials coming out of college but still worked his ass off and achieved more than 99% of the posters on this board ever will. It just stings to see him post something that comes off as very elitist and aloof.
Again, There is no reason to say something like that. I take offense to it, it's like you feel you are so much better and trying to degrade the people who run in DII. Many of whom are FAST.
Get over it, baby bitches.
You guys are slower, weaker, and worthless. If you could have gotten a scholarship to a D1 that's where you would be.
Try step into a league with the big dogs, chances are you wouldn't even make it to regionals. Until then, get outside and train instead of whining about being called baby bitches, maybe you can break 4:30 or 15:30 one day.

Thanks for clarifying this. All these years I was confused and believed I was choosing between athletic scholarships to mediocre academic schools (sorry, Stanford didn't call me) and academic scholarships to good small schools.
Regarding the subject of this thread, the whole thing is a bit silly. Calling D3 Nationals the "Baby Nationals" is disrespectful, but if it truly offends anyone then they need to spend a few days putting together a Powerpoint on how not to seem petty, whiny and bitter.
George Bush is the worst president ever. Wejo has been brainwashed by his daddy and other republican party hacks. Comments like "baby nationals" cause high gas prises, the falling economy and the mortage crisis, maybe cancer too.

Which is why this whole "issue" is hilarious. Wejo can write whatever he wants. His site. The things people get worked up about are just his opinions. You shouldn't care about his opinion, I know I don't.
It's like on "the week in review" which I generally enjoy reading. If one of the Jo's picked a runner to win, or a team to win, etc...they write about how smart they are for a paragraph or two. I just roll my eyes and hope they are joking.
Let me clarify one thing. I think my initial post was poorly written and I have edited it (see the new one if you want). The use of the word baby was not in any way shape or form meant to call the runners "babies". It was an attempt to distinguish the nationals from the DI nationals. Like they are the kid brother to the big Kahuna. I stated that poorly in the original post.

Your screen name speaks volumes.
If you don’t like it, you can always attempt to create a more PC website.
f*** dIi and dIII..seriously...its a load of shit..the standard of DEPTH is shit..they have one of two who were too dumb or small minded to go to dI and everyone down there thinking dII is great...it shouldn't be called Baby nationals..it should be called Load of Cock nationals. it's a whole other world down in the shitsville USA dII...a world of slow running by fat people
it's a troll feeding frenzy!
I found it offensive. It certainly is a very opinionated way of posting results and represents your feelings about DII and DII.
Apparently they aren't equally tough (just less talented) individuals, but in fact..babies.
I suppose a lot of people WOULD argue that generally DI atheletes are tougher or more developed in some way other than talent. I just don't understand the need to bash people when posting a link to their results.
i think there should be an additional choice on the poll that says "not funny," or "stupid" or "i don't care" or something.
i wasn't offended, but i certainly don't think it was cool. like most of the stuff these guys write, it was just sort of lame.

I'll tell you exactly what happened to cause this wejo. You, for some reason, don't think D2 D3 or NAIA especially should be on the front page (obvious from past non-coverages) so when people continually email you asking that it be put up, it gets under your skin for some reason. So begrudgingly to get them to shut up you put it up, but to get back at them you name it "baby nationals"...now you know its offensive or at least mean it as demeaning; however, knowing that the majority of your traffic is from those "baby athletes" you come up with this back story of little brother crap to cover your tracks so that you can leave up baby nationals which makes you feel good becuase you are getting those suckers but at the same time are defensible becuase they are just being "too sensitive"...
You couldn't be further from the truth. I follow generally the top of the sport. Primarily the pros, but also the high school level and college level. So at the college level that mainly means D1. I would put up links to DII, DIII, and NAIA nationals because I know some poeple are looking for them but to be honest I did not know those meets were this weekend until I saw a message board thread on them and got an email. The general viewer of the site is not discussing who is going to win DII, DIII, etc. But we do have passionate viewers who run in those levels and follow it and they do deserve a link.
The posts from a few top DII and DIII stars in this thread supporting me gives me support. I'm not trying to be vindicative.
I can see how the term "Baby Nats" was misinterpreted but some term like "Lesser Nats" etc is way more disprespectful. Yes I could just call them DII, DIII, NAIA nats. The fact of the matter is winning DII or DIII isn't the same thing as winning DI (that doesn't mean a guy like Scott Bauhs isn't a stud and couldn't win DI). If I make any attempt to distinguish the nationals say for our international viewers, then someone at the DII or DIII level will take offense.
Also at the same time, from some of the posts in this thread and from other threads I know DIII guys are sensitive to being disrespected. We do like to poke fun of people here and make fun of even ourselves so trust me you'll know when it's really being done.
I actually going through old emails this week and found a youtube video from a DIII meet. I thought of putting it up with a comment as a joke to play on this sensitivity. Trust me you'll know when I do it.
If you can't take a joke you can't take a joke.
For the record I am not offended by the Baby nationals link. However, Aaron Rono put an impressive weekend together by winning the 1500, 5000, and 10,000. While the times were not blazing it is impressive that he was able to win all three races considering all the rounds that he ran. I believe this is the first time a runner has accomplished this feat in the NAIA. His times in the finals were: 3:46, 14:23, and 29:56.
While this may highlight the weak depth of the NAIA when compared to D1, people should take note of this runner. He is the real deal, but even more important a quality person.
Rono holds pr's of 3:40, 13:54, and 28:13.
Rono will make fast babies!
ok cool. I apologize for putting words or thoughts in your mind....I deserve at least a week ban and will except nothing less.
The guy who started this whole thing by emailing me to put up the results has written back:
Here is his email in its entirety:
"I think it sounds fine personally, and it's humorous that you put a poll up to test how offended people are...it's better to have the link there than not have anything at all. Thanks for taking the time to put it up and listening to feedback. It's nice to know that you'll listen to reasonable requests."
