Before I put this up on ebay (thanks, Mike for a great concept), I wanted to give the letsrun community the opportunity to participate in the Olympics. Due to my upcoming injury, I plan on selling my Olympic entry on ebay. My number will allow you to line up next to Geb (if he runs) and live the true Olympic experience. It's funny that you mention this. About 2 weeks after the race we will be able to type in the bib # on the Boston Photo Website and SEE who this actually is!! We can then totally trash this guy for a couple weeks!!!!! God help the guy who buys this bib!! Ha Ha Ha
There is nothing wrong with ratting out Mike Aldrink. I'm sure most legitimate Boston entrants would be fine with it. How many crimes in America are solved because someone was ratted out? Ratting out Mike Aldrink is a NOBLE endeavor.

not sure I buy off on this, I could see it from the 3:10 crowd, but why does a 2:30 guy care about who lines up behind him? This guy should be home and showered by the time Huckabee reaches Wellesley.
I sold my '04 Boston Bib for $550 on ebay, not as easy nowadays....who cares? I'm the one that had my 5:50 time posted in the local paper.
What happened? I can't access Ebay at work. Did he auction it?

A: Put it this way...I can't run, why not let someone else? I don't have an image problem and would be offended if someone finished in 5+ hours. I have run many marathons around 2:30 and some at 5+ hours with people training for their first. No matter what time one finishes in, we are all still doing the same thing.

Nowhere in his answer does this guy says, "Hey, I'm no elite! I'm good but not great, so of course I don't have a sponsor. Everybody can run my time with proper training blah blah blah".

Four numbers were identified as being advertised for sale.
One didn't come to pick up the number; the other three were not given the number. They were directed to the "trouble table", where :
- one 'buyer' was asked questions, confronted with the sale materials and consequences, and simply left.
- one buyer gave a story ("he's on a trip and won't return from California til late tonight so I'm picking up the number"), was given the sale notice, and left; the seller returned with his version of story ("no, I got back early from my trip"), was presented with the sale notice, talked around it, but eventually left.
- the third buyer had same situation as the 2nd, left. Seller then showed up and was quite boisterous. After his 'explanation', was presented with the a printout of the sales offer, and fainted. Quickly bounced up, started arguing his point again, but when again given the sales offer, fainted again. He was taken away on a wheelchair by medical personnel with his girlfriend in tow.
