What do runners have against racewalk?

Speaking as a once and (perhaps) future racewalker, I have to ask why you bumped this thread. What, you didn't get today's abuse quota filled?

Someone once said the only thing more boring that Track events...are Field events. He must not have watched a world junior women's 10k (its still finishing).

So you eliminate an event because it's judged? What about long jump? Get rid of that? Javelin? Shot put? Discus? Who says there are no judges in track and field? How about a 100 m and a false start? Who reviews the false start? Judges are everywhere. I don't think golf is a sport but I don't militate against its disappearance.

I honestly tried to give it a chance when I attended Nationals last week. I got about a lap into the men's race and two laps into the women's race before calling it a night.

It's ridiculous, the human body is not supposed to function in that manner.

I'm not saying it's not hard, it looked hard. My hips hurt just watching it. Just because something's hard doesn't make it a sport.

Nobody knows the rules (outside of racewalking). Allegedly you have to keep one foot (or the other) on the ground at all times. But any video of a racewalk routinely shows walkers with both feet off the ground. So the judges have to have special knowledge of how often or to what extent the rule can be broken. It seems rather subjective, and we seem to see long stretches of people racing with both feet often off the ground interspersed with batches of disqualifications. Can somebody knowledgeable explain this?

at what point does a whisper become quiet talking, nobody knows

It's like having a contest to see who can whisper the loudest.

Look at pictures from 100 years ago. The walkers were using an actual walking form not this goofy swivel hip form with both feet leaving the ground. The time has come to eliminate it.

the only people I have seen that speed walk are old ladies at the mall, I didn't know people actually competed, I'd go watch a racewalk race once just for shits n gigs.
