I saw that too.
Great job Alan Webb!
This is the 8th fastest mile in history and the fastest mile in almost 6 years. Alan Webb lived up to the hype fo' sho.
IAAF.org has a brief article, including splits.
Well done , Seagull-Wolverine ! All residents in and around South Lakes are going for a run this evening !! You are amazing , Mr. Webb !!!
Seahawk !!! ( sorry ):)

Best way would be even on the edge, 56.x, 56.x for 1:53.2-.5 for yards
get by 3/4 not 1200 in 2:50.x again another 56.x type and then whatever ya got.
Going out in 1:51.3, or 1:52.00 for 880 yards represents potential blow up area
Young man have you ever ran anything close to 3:47? I have neither but I trained with a few 3:51-3:53 milers before and its now about having a nice negative/even split to look at and brag about. Its about running the FINAL time and if figuring out which is best for you to strategically do in order to achieve this. For 800-mile it is very hard now to break records and do a negative/even split. One must establish above record pace because pace is so fast you are going to slow down no matter what, at least give yourself some comfort zone if any.
webb ran negative splits today... lol @ you...
now what you all have to say?
me I smell gold for Webb in the future. And not Nike endorsement money Beijing 2008!
I think he can do it!

With the way that Webb is running these days compared to Lagat, if he breaks the record it seems like it could be his for a long time.
12 years so far and no one threatening it.
In fact, no one in the world has run faster since.
Will the record last 20 years?
If he had a choice of getting this record and holding it now or having won the 1500 at Worlds that year, which would be preferable?
tokyo 2020
Webb should run the 'thon.
