Crazy that Kipchoge was the once in a generation marathon talent, then Kiptum smashed his record, now there’s already multiple guys looking to be on the crest of breaking that.
I don't mind what they are doing so far. Give like the minute before commercials to the wheelchair/charity/paying the bills type content. But give us mostly racing. Of course you'd love it to be all racing but I will gladly settle for this if this continues.
Not sure about the other streams but there are no commercials on peacock. It goes to the quad box showing all the races during the commercials
Very unpopular opinion, but I don't think kipchoge was a generational marathon talent, I think he was just the first world class track guy to transition to the marathon when he was still in his prime

I initially downvoted, but you I don’t think you’re wrong. These new guys definitely transition a bit younger though.

Interesting take.
Look. I think he was a SPECIAL talent who didn't wait too long to move to the marathon. I mean this guy beat Bekele and EL G in a 5000 at a teenager.
Looking at searchable results/progress for each of them, Centro thru 5K in 16:42. I am not seeing anything at all for Rupp, as it is showing he has not started. Perhaps there is something wrong with the tracking as it it's hard to think he would be a DNS, but it's a little concerning.
I saw Rupp in with the third group -- the one targeting 64:00 at the half -- early on but they haven't shown that group since so I can't say for sure if he's still in the race. But I would think he's still there unless something went horrendously wrong.
Thanks for the updates JG and everyone else. Tacking still seems to be a little funky, but good to know Rupp is in there.

There are 7,300 people watching live on youtube which is way more than was watching Athlos live when I checked the other night. I saw Athlos at 6,200.
"Way more?" Considering that the only people watching Athlos were track fans and the people watching the Chicago stream are track fans and people who have friends/relatives/coworkers competing, hobbyjogger marathon runners (of which there are about a million in the US) and the fact that the Chicago Marathon has been around almost 50 years and is one of the most popular marathons in the world, I would expect that the numbers watching the marathon would be at least 5-10x as many as Athlos. Let me know when the number watching reaches 30,000-50,000.

And 5 of them on it. Some noob told me the other day on here that only 4 men in history had run sub 2.20 after i said kiplimo may only run third if he runs 2.00.35. History being rewritten
