Not winning a race does not mean he got demolished. Every race he has been in, he has done decent and better than his 2024 season. It all just looked like a steady progression to me. I think a lot of people mistake his failures in GST as him being totally unfit, He has made it clear the past two years, he ONLY sharpens up when he absolutely needs to which is at world champs. Even at US trials, He knew making that 5k team was the hardest task for him and went all in to make sure he got that done.
An Olympic or world champion is expected to be dominant in their event, not an also-ran. Without those two championship wins by Hocker he would simply be another guy on the track that no one would remember. The rest of the competitive year he consistently loses. If it was Ingebrigtsen you would all have been saying his career is over.
just seems like he peaked appropriately for the year while everyone else was scrambling to level up -- we saw most either injured or on fumes by mid Sept and even earlier
he seemed to be comfortable with his approach to the season and fitness and looked like he was correct
if he didnt get DQed, very possibly be talking about double gold medalist Cole Hocker
Goes from nowhere in contention in Stockholm to running a 52 in sub 13 race. Sorry, I don’t believe it. Moan and complain all you want but he wasn’t the best at anything this year.
By your logic, the only way for him not to be suspicious is not to win...or to win in a fashion that you find palatable. The spirit of Billy Mills is frowning on you from heaven.
And...is it OK if I don't moan and complain? I like irony way more, so there is this (nsfw, language):

So a global champion can be a loser for most of the rest of the year. That isn't how it has been for the true greats in the sport. But it's what I would expect of someone who dopes for the Olympics and WC.

The only way for him to be not suspicious would be for him to perform at a consistent level throughout the year - which means he either stays as a journeyman or dominates the sport. He does neither.
Stop being naive look back at the video. Everybody’s face is grimacing in the back Kimeli, Gressier, Mehary, except Hocker’s. We’re the “haters and ruining the sport” lol bro this guy closed a 53.X in a 3:27 race, this is maybe the fastest close in a 3:28-3:29 race never mind a 3:27 race. “People call everybody a doper” a 3:27 closed in 53 seconds is not “everybody”. It’s actually just him.

OK, so I was wrong. He has to *dominate*" or consistently suck. Except that the suspicion is yours and is just that, a suspicion. Jakob dominates...you may not suspect him of cheating, but plenty of other people do. So, I will ask again: so what?

Im sure there's a test you can create that he cant pass for 'greatness' but this seems a little silly

Trumpers are out here defending Cole so you KNOW he's a cheater.
Bruh the boomers will accuse everybody and their mom of doping. You mention Hocker and they start acting like you're talking Chinese. If you guys want to defend him because he's your midwestern golden boy cool, but these are literally all performances we would agree on are questionable. Forget about a Kenyan, if Kerr started busting these performances out, he would get the accusations rightly so.

Everyone grimaces when they're running beyond their limits and can't go any faster. Do you think Jakob is doping because he always looks relaxed when he pulls away or?

two of the stupidest takes in a while
what exactly is sus again? an olympic 1500m champion who ran 7:23 indoors for 3000m winning the 5000m?

The likelihood is they are doping. That's the logical inference in a sport where doping is present but mostly goes undetected. More than 1 in 2 championship athletes have been estimated from confidential athlete surveys to be doping. Only 1% of tests return a positive. The most successful athletes now will be likely juiced. Some advertise it. Like Hocker.

He got beaten at 7:23 - like he usually does - to a runner who achieved nothing in the WC. He gets beaten in virtually every race except, interestingly, an Olympic or WC final. Nothing suspicious about that.

If it wasn't for two races he would be forgotten. He has continually been beaten throughout the rest of each year. Outside a few American running fans he wouldn't register.
Cole Hocker only wins when it matters and in order to have such timeliness in a fickle sport ridden with calf strains, trip ups, flare ups and traffic delays you basically have to be using drugs.
Cole a is a girl at heart but thinks himself a man. He has no qualms lying and cheating us.

Good that you notice Hocker is a cheat as Grant fisher. Doesn’t mean Grant performing poorly means he is out of the woods for doping, in fact I say it exacerbates doping suspicion as it just means his body is breaking down due to drug overdose. Started since his days with houlihan and continued with that dirty old man Scannell.

It truly pains me to agree with Armstrong because he is far and away the least intelligent poster on this board, but he is right.
