Watching it in retrospect, and how "invisible" he went after the 1st k was a masterclass: after he'd relinquished the lead, the pack stayed globby, and he didn't fall out the back like Mills or the few others, blow his load with a mile/km to go like Jakob out of probably desperation, or get into any wrestling matches, with 400m to go it was like "oh, he's still there, if he has the gear shifter ready and the nitro boost, he's got it." And sure enough I was screaming at my TV in my building at 7am. F*ck your Sunday sleep, upstairs and downstairs neighbors!
It was fantastic! Hocker is a proven championship performer at all levels, and he just proved it again. Let’s review his updated résumé:
🏆 Foot Locker National High School XC Champion, 2018
🏆 NCAA Indoor Champion: DMR, 2021
🏆 NCAA Indoor Champion: Mile, 2021
🏆 NCAA Indoor Champion: 3,000m, 2021
🏆 NCAA Outdoor Champion: 1500m, 2021
🏅 USA Outdoor Champion: 1500m, 2021
🏅 USA Indoor Champion: 3,000m, 2022
🏅 USA Indoor Champion: 1500m, 2022
🏅 USA Indoor Champion: 1500m, 2024
🥈 World Indoor Silver: 1500m, 2024

🥇 Olympic Champion: 1500m, 2024
🏅 USA Outdoor Champion: 5,000m, 2025
🥇 World Outdoor Champion: 5,000m, 2025
All that, and he’s only 24! What a winner!
worth remention. morons create a quick narative, he is a one hit wonder, washed up after a so so opener, based on a sample size as big as their dk.
with jacob, after injury his racing actually got him into shape, where his final result, means he is ramping up fast to normal fitness.
the brojos are guilty of this, when they should know better, never mind.
How about moving lower, knowing you spend 42 years to break 10-second barrier.
Jakob was only exploiting a gap in training involving thresholds and his extremely stable and favorable environment.
Same clown was posting under “Hssn Man Mok”. He’s still a racist.
How about not relying on handouts from those hated “Westerners” and their “stable environments” you whine about. Why is environment in Bachar so unstable?
Yes. As the Brojos often argue, it’d be nice to have more meets that matter in Track and Field. But as it stands, we don’t. A Diamond League win only pays $20k, which is a pittance for someone like Cole Hocker.
A professional running career isn't just one race a year. But it would be to a doper. Genuine athletes try to win every time they compete. That's what sportsmen and women do. It isn't just about one cheque.
What is also implausible is that an athlete can be so uncommitted as to be mediocre throughout the year, win nothing, and then become the absolute best in the world in a global championship. It's like transitioning from being a dilettante or a journeyman to becoming the best on the planet overnight. Fake.
Tall poppy syndrome. You just can't stand being old and irrelevant, Crusty.
Eff whoever DQed Hocker from the 1500 this man is the best distance runner on the planet right now and we fans were ROBBED of getting to watch him go for the coolest double in T&F
He robbed himself. If legitimate rules go out the window so the fans can watch cool races, why not just postpone this championships until December so Josh and Jakob can compete healthy? Clearly this is not just part of the sport, we were robbed of this exciting rivalry and we should whine about it just like Cole continues to do!!

You didn't answer the real point. You forgot you dominated a half century and disappeared suddenly like the dinosaurs?
I love how you americans mocked Hocker for now winning anything since Paris olympics. Yet he is now undoubtedly a more successfull runner than Fisher, Young and Rupp combined.
You're a straw man dipsh!t. No - we Americans weren't mocking him (actually, funny, the main place I kept hearing that was Steve Cram in the commentary box). We knew all along he was going to be ready when it counts.
You can say peaking, but is there anyone in the world who peaks like Hocker? In 2024 he was soundly beaten all year until the 3:30 with a huge last lap at USAs, then he ran 3:27 in Paris and still had an enormous kick. None of his 1500m races before or since have been anywhere near that level. This year he only ran 12:57 off the back of his 7:23 and got dropped in his only DL 5k appearance, but today he closed a 12:58 in 52 to win gold.
Gault asked him what he does between USAs and Olympics/Worlds to improve so dramatically and he didn’t really answer the question.
My guess is he loses some weight. Not really considered polite to talk about it. This was I think part of how Manzano, Centro, and Symmonds produced big peaks (I am reading between lines a little here based on comments each previously made). It is not sustainable for long, so results look different most of the year.
Kerr and Ingebrigtsen do this too, with the difference being that Jingy is able to put up world class times before peaking/slimming down for the championships.
Perfectly executed by Cole. Big win, fully deserved.
Four sec faster than an all time low Jakob. A Jakob in normal shape is way beyond. But a part of the game is to be in shape on the startline. Jacob was not. So this one went to Cole.

Robert Farken is his name. He got Hocker DQ'd just so he could be a nonfactor in the weakest 1500m final field of the decade. I hope he's proud of himself!
So, let's see what I would rather win: maybe a GST race that doesn't mean sh*t; maybe some Grand Prix race somewhere that is forgotten 10 minutes later; how about a DL meet that is cool but nobody remembers or gives a damn about next year; how is this: the Olympic 1500 meters and for good measure the next year's World Championship 5000 meters. Hmm, what would you pick? Like I said earlier the Hocker haters are losers and should be jumping off the bridge. At least they should be banned from LRC...especially one whose user name begins Arm.......
I don't think I've ever seen people going on this much about peaking and how the only race that matters is a race that's ran less than once a year outside of American runners. Being the best means being able to perform more than once a year. The best runners are the runners who can both run fast times on the circuit and win global medals.
All this talk about how Hocker is the best peaker ever and the best American distance runner and it's referring to a guy who's not even had a better season than Jimmy Gressier.
